Discover everything you need to know about unlocking Chatterwhite Shader in Destiny 2, including the tips and tricks.
Destiny 2 offers a new quest available, and Bungie is basically giving away free Adept weapons and the Chatterwhite Shader. The new quest in the game is called The Past Is Prologue. It doesn’t involve us slaying Gods like we normally do, but winding down episode Revenue in as we prepare for heresy right around the corner. This is similar to Riven’s Wishes from last year, a sort of mini-event Quest where you complete different tasks. Finishing the objectives allows you to gain rewards in the process. This was added by Bungie because there wasn’t really much content planned for the end of the episode. In this guide, we’ll discuss how to unlock Chatterwhite Shader in Destiny 2, including the rewards you can obtain for completing Bento Box Quests.
Unlocking the Chatterwhite Shader can take time and effort—but if you’re looking to skip the grind, our boosting service for Destiny 2 is here to help you get it faster and hassle-free.

How To Get New Exotic Armor in Destiny 2
The Past Is Prologue
This Quest involves Drifter and Eris. To begin, head over to The Drifter down by Ada and pick up the Quest for yourself. The Drifter will want you to complete the 5 Bento box Quests. You do this by completing different objectives around the system. Each little Quest has different steps. When you complete one of these objectives, they reward you a Bento token. This is the currency for this event. These tokens can then be used to purchase rewards at Eris, so Drifter has the quests and Eris has the rewards.
Bungie has this Quest set up in a little bit of a Sly way. Currently, you can only pick up four Quest steps from Drifter. You need five of these completed to be able to get Chatterwhite Shader. So, you won’t be able to get it today on reset. You’ll either have to wait until next week at reset for more of them to release, or this Friday, it appears you’ll be able to get them from Xur. Take the tokens to Eris on the moon for some great rewards.
Bento Box quests
Here are all the steps you can complete currently.
- Nightmare Lunch- Complete 60 activities on the Moon. Nightmare Hunts grant bonus progress.
- The Stuff of Legends- Finish final Encounters in any raid or dungeon raids to provide additional progress. (Two completions required)
- A Dubious Bento- Collect 10 dubious celery from defeated Targets in Gambit and collect 10 Century eggs from defeated combatants on the moon.
- Martial Mementos- Get 200 final blows with Malfeasance, Witherhoard, Touch of Malice, Whisper of the Worm, Xenophage, or Arbalest.
- Snakebite- Secure 200 final blows with Gambit weapons.
- Dredgens of Yore- Get 50 Guardian final blows in Crucible or Gambit. Final blows in Gambit and with a Hand Cannon will earn additional progress.
- Nightmare Kills- Defeat three nightmare bosses and challenging combatants.
Complete 60 activities on the moon. You could do patrols at public events, but nightmare hunts grant bonus progress each one grants. Once you complete the objectives, you’ll get a Bento token to turn into Eris for a reward.
Rewards For Turning Bento Token
Here are the rewards you can acquire.
- With one token, you can get two Ascendant Alloys or two Ascendant Shards.
- One token can also get you an Exotic Cipher or 25 Spoils of Conquest. You can do that three times.
- It also costs one token if you want the following.
- Gambit Memento
- Nightfall Memento
- Iron Banner Memento
- Lost Memento
- Dawning Memento
- Games Memento
- Solstice Memento
If you’re interested in armor, there’s artifice armor for all three classes, which costs two tokens each. They all will drop with high stat rolls.
- Hinterland Grips
- Hinterland Vest
- Hinterland Cloak
- Hinterland Cowl
- Hinterland Strides
You have options for weapons and armor. This is where things get juicy. If you don’t have the Cloud Strike Exotic Sniper, you can pick that up for three Bento tokens. For one token, you can get a Cataphract GL3 Adept weapon with a fixed roll of Linear Compensator, Alloy Casings, Envious Assassin, Bait and Switch, Alacrity, and velocity Masterwork.
You can get an Igneous Hammer Adapt with Fluted Barrel, Flared Magwell, Fragile Focus, Precision Instrument, and Range Masterwork. You can get an Adapt Horror’s Least with Arrowhead Break, Accurized Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Kill Clip, and Stability Masterwork. Get a rip tide with Arrowhead Brake, Enhanced Battery, Compulsive Reloader, Chill Clip, and Charge Time. That’s not all. Once you’ve turned in five Bento tokens, you gain access to something as Precious and Pale as the Moon.
The Chatterwhite Shader from Destiny 1 is back from participating in this event. You can get it after you’ve collected five tokens. We have had some similar shaders like Bitter Pearl and Destiny 2, and different shaders of the nine, which give you that Chatterwhite. However, the Chatter white is the OG, and it’s back if you are interested.
Best Bento Box Quest For Chatterwhite Shader
Chatterwhite Shader is the item that every player wants during this event in Destiny 2. Completing the 5 Bento Box Quests is essential to unlock the Chatterwhite Shader, so choosing the right quest is also crucial here. Keep in mind that the easiest Bento Box Quests are the ones that align with your playstyle or your preference. Here are the best Bento Box Quests that we recommend completing in Destiny 2.
- Snakebite- This is the slow one, so you can complete it while doing The Stuff of Legends. Switch to Breakneck or Hush and get slaying after completing Martial Mementos kills. We recommend you swap for Dredgens of Yore if you have enough PvP skills.
- The Stuff of Legends- This Bento Box Quest is the difficult one if you choose not to do dungeons or any raid. You can get into one of the easier dungeon bosses with the in-game Fireteam Finder. The dungeon bosses can be like Kell Echo or raid bosses like Taniks. This is a fast-paced quest, so complete it strategically.
- Martial Mementos- While only focusing on this one, it might take more time to complete. Use the strong weapons to eliminate the enemies while progressing. You can complete it before you’re done when you use something like Malfeasance while completing other Bento Quests. Most players can complete this during a single Vesper’s Host run before they reach the final boss.
- A Dubious Bento- You need to complete a Gambit game to complete. However, the resources drop so quickly, allowing you to complete it during the first match. A single public event allows you to get the Moon resources.
- Nightmare Kills- This is the easiest and fastest Bento quest. Finish it in a single run of “The Weep” Lost Sector in the EDZ. You can complete this before opening the chest if you just kill the Nightmare enemies over there.
