In the futuristic world of Overwatch 2, some heroes are beginner-friendly. Some of them are just trash, and some of them are perfect heroes that are just hard to grasp, but if you do, they’ll make an excellent main character for you. Along these lines, there is a hero who’s just perfectly defined by his class and playstyle, and that hero is Moira. In this blog, I am going to share some tips and tricks that I’ve been using and honestly are affecting. So basically, this blog is going to be a guide on how to play Moira, but before all of that, let’s get through her origin story and her abilities.
Before we start with the origin and details of this character, those who are looking to improve their rank can try our overwatch 2 boosting platform. We have a team of professionals who can push your rank to your desire in no time!
Origin:
So Moira’s aesthetics, as you can guess, are more of a psycho gal, and guess what? She is a psycho-scientist. Her ideas were deemed too radical and controversial by the people.
Moira was standing in her laboratory, and her eyes were glowing. Maybe the source of the glow in her eyes was dark energy. She surrounded herself with bubbling flasks and whirring machines that were filled with her experiment.
She had always been a great scientist, but her thirst and admiration for gaining more knowledge led her down a dark path. She has no allies or friends; she is just interested in gaining that dark energy to get more powerful. Moira started down at her latest batch of experiments. She knew that she was close to a breakthrough, and she could feel the power through her entire body. She was on the verge of creating something truly great, something that would change the world forever. Moira smiled. She could already see the future, and it was bright.
Yeah, this was pretty much about her origin story that I could have scrapped. Now let’s get back to the topic.
Class, abilities, ultimate:
So as you guys know, Moira is a healer, and ultimately, her goal is to heal her teammates and support her team. Her class is supportive, but there’s little more to that than just saying she’s a support hero.
Abilities:
Biotic Grasp:
This biotic grasp is a weapon and healing ability. You can left-click to heal your teammate; just aim at them. No need for conciseness; just look at them and press left-click to heal them. And this ability is also her long-beam weapon: right-click when you want to damage or kill an enemy, and again, no need for conciseness; just aim at their body and press right-click to start sucking the life out of them, and this also heals yourself.
Biotic orb:
This ability is the same as biotic grasp, but the difference is that likewise, it’s an orb that you can send to heal your allies or to damage your enemies. It bounces off the walls, so you don’t even have to aim properly.
Fade:
By using fade, you can travel without getting shot or being seen. This ability gives you invincibility now. This one is a rather common ability among the heroes of the game and also quite common among other tactical shooters. Like Omen’s teleport in Valorant or Reaper in the Overwatch itself.
Coalescence:
And now, for her ultimate, it’s quite elegant and simple; it performs as a beam. Here’s how you use it:
It’s a large beam in front of Moira that can damage enemies for 70 damage per second, or if it’s centered on an ally, it can heal them for 140 damage per second. It also gives you juicy healing and makes your movement faster. It can change the round drastically if used accurately.
So all in all, Moira’s character revolves around these two things: healing and damage, while also having fade, which can come clutch in certain situations.
Now that her intro and abilities are out of the way, let’s get through to the guide:
Positioning:
As I said before, Moira is a support hero, and that’s why she should be the backup of the squad and should always be in a healing and supporting position. There is no need to make aggressive plays as she is not a tank or a damage hero. Just be at the back of your team constantly heal them, and try to damage your enemies in the process. If you are creative, you can annoy them a lot by constantly fading and damaging them. Or you could also take cover and try to see where the fights are mostly happening and be the middleman of the fights by getting in cover, healing your teammates constantly, and fading away. You should be in a line of sight where you can see both teams or at least some part of both teams. The last position or playing strategy could be rotating a lot because you have decent speed in walking and also have a fade. You can easily rotate from one part of the map to another and be an annoying enemy who always backstabs.
Playstyle / Should I switch?
While it depends on what type of player you are and what your personal preference is, if you are new to the game, I wouldn’t advise you to be a Moira main; there are a lot of other heroes that you can be a main, and especially if you are a beginner, then take up a damage or tank hero. This way, you’ll be able to understand the game’s mechanics, and after getting a hang of the game, you can try Moira. Now the question is whether you should switch your main to Moira. If you are an aggressive and to-the-face player, then you shouldn’t main any healer, let alone Moira, because you’ll be more helpful as a tank or an offense hero. But if you are patient and have a strategic approach, you should give Moira a try.
Tips:
Now for the tips that can help you elevate your gameplay.
Tip 1:
So when you are using a biotic grasp, don’t push and hold down your mouse keys because it’ll take a bit longer to recharge; rather, try to tap on the buttons; that’ll last longer and will cause extra healing or damage.
Tip 2:
Try to go aggressive when in a 1v1 situation because you have to fade. Just try to damage the enemy and then fade away. This does sound simple, but it’s quite useful in matches.
Tip 3:
With coalescence, which is Moira’s ultimate, you wouldn’t be able to win the round on your own, but you can change the course of the round by interfering in the fights. And by using your ultimate in-between and helping your teammate to make a big play or giving him some time by healing him or damaging your enemy, This can all help you a lot if you play your cards right.
Tip 4:
With Moira’s fade ability, it’s crucial to know when to use it and when not to, because I know you might be tempted to use the fade to make aggressive plays, but because it has an 8-second cooldown, if everything doesn’t go right, you’ll be getting knocked out. So use it wisely and use it as a “Get out of trouble” card to make a play fade away and repeat. So if you are not in trouble, don’t bother using it.
Tip 5:
If you don’t have the fastest movement on the team, it’s better to be at the back line of the team. This way, you can make yourself useful by healing your allies and generally being an asset. Moira can be the easiest support player for a beginner to start in a support role, not on the game (I mean). So by being on the back foot, you’ll be able to analyze the whole team’s movement and will learn this hero a lot faster.
Combos:
Moira isn’t a solo healer if I’m being honest; she is a 2-dimensional character like Jett in Valorant who can give the team some morale but can’t do enough as a solo.
So here are some combo heroes that you can pair with Moira:
Mercy:
This can be a bit of a hot take, but Mercy should be your first pick if you want to pair it with another healer because she is balanced and has a lot more utility than Moira. If you pair her with Moira, the results will be positive, but remember, you are on the support side of the game, so be careful and don’t make yourself vulnerable. And by doing this, your team composition will be a lot better with two good healers.
Reaper
Reaper can also be a choice to do with Moira, as he is one of the most popular damage heroes and can do quite a heavy blow to the enemy team while being paired with Moira. I am not going to go into specifics about how they are going to complement each other; you could also try this yourself.
Brigitte:
Brigitte is another close-range support hero who can provide a lot of healing and tankiness. She can also be a nice choice for pairing with Moira. Brigitte’s inspiring ability can give Moira a consistent flow of healing, allowing her to save her resources.
Kiriko:
She is a relatively new character in the game, but her healing kit is quite convenient and effective. She can make a great pair with Moira. For instance, she can throw her ultimate for healing, which can affect 5 meters of area for 14 seconds. You can imagine how good they can be together.
These are just my suggestions that you can use and implement in-game, but you can also choose and mix and match your duo and have a blast.
