Here are the full patch notes for Overwatch 2’s last update of 2023!
After a full year of nothing but new heroes, maps, and balance changes, it’s time for Blizzard’s last Overwatch 2 update before going into the holiday season. In this patch, the newest tank hero, Mauga, has finally been enabled in ranked, with a lot of buffs aimed to make him competitive with the best heroes in the game. In this article, we are going to list all of the patch notes for the December 21st update for Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 December 21th Full Patch Notes
While this is not the biggest update of the year, the new Mauga changes in this patch are likely going to define the meta in the coming weeks. Mauga is going to debut in ranked with a lot of buffs, which are going increase his survivability, as well as damage output. Here is the list of patch notes for December 21st:
HERO UPDATES
- Mauga is now available in Competitive Play for players who unlocked him.
- Base health decreased from 350 to 250.
- Base armor increased from 150 to 250.
Incendiary and Volatile Chainguns
- Number of shots with the Incendiary Chaingun to ignite enemies reverted from 15 to 10.
- Spread decreased from 1.1 to 1 when only one Chaingun is active.
Berserker
- Overhealth conversion rate increased from 50% to 60%.
BUG FIXES
GENERAL
- Fixed a bug that had some heroes’ default weapon appearing locked behind competitive points.
- Hero Mastery – Fixed a bug with replays where only the bookmarks of the first run could be selected.
- Fixed a bug that prevented players from being able to thank each other.
- Fixed a bug that caused the multi-kill voice over to fail to play.
HEROES
Junkrat
- Fixed a bug with Concussion Mine that allowed Junkrat to launch off of it when placed behind a wall.
