Destiny 2: The Final Shape brings back the Khvostov but with an upgrade. The Khvostov 7G-0X is an exotic auto rifle that reminds players of the first Destiny game and has amazing features like bouncing bullets, extra damage, and works great for both story missions (PvE) and battles against other players (PvP).
You need to complete a quest in the Pale Heart patrol zone to unlock this weapon. The quest involves finding chests, completing missions called Cysts, fighting Overthrow bosses, and collecting items. This guide explains the steps to get both the Khvostov 7G-02 and the Khvostov 7G-0X in simple, easy steps.
⚔️ Step 1: Get the Khvostov 7G-02
First, you need the Khvostov 7G-02 before you can get the upgraded version. To do this, you will need to collect 15 Lost Encryption Bits to make the Lost Encryption Code, which will open a special chest in the Pale Heart.
There are nine region chests in three areas in the Pale Heart: The Landing, The Blooming, and The Impasse. Each chest gives one Lost Encryption Bit.
🚁 The Landing (3 Chests)
1Cliff Chest: Go to the cliffs on the right side of the landing zone. Find the chest on a high ledge with a view. Use your Sparrow or jump to get there.
2Waterfall Chest: Find the big waterfall in the middle. Look behind the water for a small nook with the chest. It glows faintly.
3Building Chest: Climb a broken building near the edge of the zone. Find the chest on the roof, near a tree or pile of junk.
🌸 The Blooming (3 Chests)
1Rocky Hills Chest: Check the rocky hills near the Hive buildings in the center. Find the chest on a high platform.
2Cave Chest: Find a cave at the north edge of the zone. The chest is inside, behind a Hive barrier you can break.
3High Ledge Chest: Look for a high ledge near a big tree or crystal. The chest is on a platform requiring jumps.
🏔️ The Impasse (3 Chests)
1Bridge Chest: Near the rusted car bridge, find a chest on a ledge above a big gap. Often near junk or broken cars.
2Building Chest: Inside a broken building, check the upper floors. Located in a corner, sometimes behind boxes.
3Cliff Chest: On a high cliff near the zone’s edge, find the chest on a narrow ledge. Use Sparrow to climb.
The other six Lost Encryption Bits come from Cyst missions in the Alone in the Dark quest from Micah-10. You need to complete this quest six times to visit all six Cysts.
🦋 Moth-Infested Cavern
Defeat an Ogre boss surrounded by Lucent Moths that explode if you get too close. After defeating the Ogre, the tech pile is not on the platform but below it.

Navigate through a maze filled with enemies before facing the boss. The boss fight takes place in a large room.
⚔️ Slayer
Complete a series of tasks before facing a boss inside a cave. The boss fight is straightforward but challenging.

Move through darkness filled with Hive enemies. Defeat waves of Hive to progress through the mission.

Use swords to progress through the mission. Reach and defeat the boss at the end using sword combat.
When you have all 15 Lost Encryption Bits, they automatically combine into the Lost Encryption Code.

Now that you have the Khvostov 7G-02, you can work on unlocking the Khvostov 7G-0X. You need to collect 17 Motes of Light and place 8 Visions of the Traveler in the Lost City.
Visions of the Traveler are small, floating orbs in the Pale Heart. Each gives one Mote of Light when collected.

Check the rooftops near the landing zone. The Vision is on a high ledge, near a tree or antenna.
🚁 The Landing
Look near a waterfall for a tree nook. The Vision floats inside, hidden by branches.
🌸 The Blooming
Find a cave in the center. The Vision is inside, near a Hive totem or crystal.
💎 The Refraction
Check near big crystal formations. The Vision floats on a platform you can jump to.
🗡️ The Seclusion
In the Slayer Cyst mission, after beating the boss, climb some rocks to a corner. The Vision is tucked away.
🌉 The Divide
Near the Cosmodrome wall entrance, find the Vision on a ledge or behind junk.
🏔️ The Impasse
Look on top of a broken building near the rusted car bridge. The Vision floats near the edge.
⚡ The Transgression
Search for a dark corner, behind rubble, or near a cliff. The Vision is close to the ground.
The remaining nine Motes of Light come from defeating Overthrow bosses in three zones. Each boss gives one Mote of Light the first time you defeat them.

A tough Taken enemy that teleports. Use strong weapons like rocket launchers.
