Each of the characters possesses a different style, different cosmetics, and different and unique abilities that come in handy on the battlefield. Some legends have abilities that make their movement around the map more swift, while others have abilities that are best used in squad vs. squad fights.

We will talk about how to play her, how to maximize her utility, and how to make her your main. In comparison, Wraith is the latest addition to the class. Catalyst Abilities:
Barricade (passive):
Let’s just get started with her abilities. Catalyst passive is pretty simple, and a forward barricade can reinforce the doors and double the enemies’ health. A plus point of that is that the enemies can not open the barricaded door; they have to destroy the gate. Because of this, they will be giving away their location to other opponents. While you might think that this barricade ability is kind of underwhelming, the situation is a bit more nuanced.
Barricade tips:
Barricades can also block out the door, which is no longer there. This makes them especially useful in full-on scenarios when you are running away from a fight and want to have a second of calm. Though Catalyst’s teammate can use the door like normal, you can try to use them as an element of surprise for your enemies.
A thing to keep in mind is that a barricade can only lock two doors simultaneously. If you try to lock more, the other one will get unlocked. So you can’t shut down a building all on your own. Other than that, a barricade can be a good pair with caustic’s ultimate. So once an enemy enters your premises he can not leave while being alive.
Piercing Spikes (Tactical):
Moving on to her tactical “piercing spikes”. So, this ability creates a spikey fluid patch of 2m x 11m in size. Catalyst has two charges, so you create a patch that is big enough by using both of the charges. Catalyst can attend three consecutive patches at the same time. The patches could also pick up your spike as long as they haven’t been activated. They have a draw distance of 15 meters, but you can get creative with them by throwing them at a longer distance.
The Piercing Spikes slow down the enemy and damage them at 15 HP per second. The patch has an orb that your opponent can destroy to get rid of it. The orb has 300 HP, and the patch will also vanish as it is destroyed. The patches last until they are either destroyed or replaced with another activated patch.
Piercing Spikes tips:
This tactical can be mix-match and can combine with multiple other legends’ abilities. For example, this tactical combination with Ash’s ARC SNARE can make up a deadly combo, or it can also combine with Bangalore’s smoke, which can be a pretty good cover if you ask me. Blending her passive with tactical is also a good option because not only could you cover the doors, but after the door gets torn apart by the enemies, the spikes can help you by slowing them down while also damaging them.
Another great thing about Catalyst is that she is immune to piercing spikes. This means that she cannot only run on her tactical spikes but also rush toward other catalysts’ spikes, which makes her even more scary in closing rings.
Dark Veil (Ultimate):
As her whole kit is based on spikey dark fluid, her ultimate goal is to hold down the same story. The dark veil is a wall that is 40m in length and 8m in height, respectively, in the line of Catalyst’s reticle. The terraformed ferrofluid slows down enemies while also blinding them for a few seconds. While the wall is not bulletproof and other legend’s abilities can get through them, it is usable as you can secure an entire building without the worry of enemies rushing.
The dark veil’s charge time is 2.5 minutes or 150 seconds, and it lasts for 15 seconds. Another thing to keep in mind is that it travels further and further until it finds a wall that is higher than climbable height. Also, no scanners work against the dark veil, so bloodhound scans are worthless against the catalyst’s ultimate. However, Catalyst herself is not infected by any of her abilities or her enemy catalyst’s abilities.
Dark Veil Tips:
There are two or three ways that you could really punch up the dark veil to the throat of the enemies. The first way of using it is to keep enemies on the guessing game and delay the push as long as you can. Or if you can’t delay, it is also a great way to rotate from an incoming fight. You just have to place the dark veil in the direction of the coming fire, and it will be easier for you to rotate since the enemy wouldn’t dare to crosse it.
You could also use the dark veil as a decoy to fake against your enemy. While this might have a 50/50 chance of working, I think that her ultimate goal can be a good decoy as well as a good cover to make a building or a side irritable to your enemies.
Catalyst Weapon Loadout:
As Catalyst Kits is leaning towards a more camping approach, you need to address it. You have to choose guns that have a really fast firing rate, or you also pick up a shotgun as a secondary weapon. R-99 should be your primary weapon as it has the fastest fire rate in the game, and on the secondary slot, you should equip a gun that has a longer range. Now, you could either pick up a Kraber .50-Cal Sniper or Sentinel. You could go with assault rifles. The choice is yours.
