What are Strange Coins in Destiny 2
Strange coins are a currency with only one current use, and that’s to purchase items from Xur during his weekend visit to the tower. Xur’s inventory has seen some major transformations over the last few months. He now offers much more than just a few weapons and armor pieces. Some of the most notable additions to Xur’s inventory have been exotic catalysts and artifice armor. However, Xur’s Inventory can now include exotic class items. Claiming these won’t be cheap. Like most of the other items in Xur’s inventory, it’ll cost 41 strange coins for each class item. Unfortunately, you can’t stockpile strange coins as the maximum limit is 99. This means that players will need to continuously farm for more strange coins to be ready for Windsor visits. With strange coins becoming a much more sought-after currency, Bungie has added a way for players to earn extra coins.
By spending at least 47 strange coins, you’ll unlock a strange favor. After collecting this from his inventory, you’ll be granted a 10-day buff that enhances the drop rates of strange coins. Whenever you collect one strange coin, you have a chance of getting a second. This will also stack, meaning that if you were to earn two or three strange coins from any activity, then you could potentially receive two to three extra coins. Gambit matches are treated just like Crucible, so you’ll get two on a loss and three on a win with a maximum of six when Strange Favor is active.
Onslaught Activities
Onslaught activities offer several chances to earn strange coins. However, you’ll find there to be no difference in the amount that drops between its expert and its normal mode. When to Farm Strange Coins
For those who are high enough light level, you want to keep an eye out for when the quicker strikes, like Fallen safe or Exodus crash, are the featured Nightfall. The reason is that these will be the fastest to farm. When double loot is active for Nightfall, those faster Nightfall strikes will become the best way to farm for strange coins. Destination strikes and Vanguard op activities are going to reward a base amount of four strange coins with seven as the max whenever strange favor is active. Destination strikes are the lowest level activity on this list, which means the quicker strikes like Devil’s layer or Fallen saber could be running through extremely fast.
