In games like Overwatch 2 and Valorant, which offer a wide variety of agents or heroes to play, Things can get complicated. Every character is different, and all of them have entirely different kits, roles, and dynamics in the game. That is why it takes forever for new players to know and learn how to play the game properly. It also needs to be clarified for players who play the game less.
That is why guides like this are helpful: they explain who these characters are and what these characters do. They also explain and teach the players how to play the respective hero to its full potential. That is why it is crucial and necessary to learn from guides and apply them accordingly.
In this blog, we are doing something similar. This blog is going to be a guide about Venture and how to use its kit efficiently. After reading this guide, you will know everything important about the Venture Venture, and you will be able to maintain her if you follow it correctly. The Venture is the 40th character of Overwatch and the latest addition to the game right after Mauga. Blizzard released Venture in season 10.
Venture is the newest addition, so her pick rate is the highest. As she has only been out for a few days, it is hard to tell how good she will be in the meta and how players will react against her. Venture is an offensive character like Cassidy and Soldier76 because the offensive class is the most picked one, which explains why she is so popular among the players.
Venture’s playstyle:
Playstyle matters a lot because if a person doesn’t have aggressiveness in his playstyle, he should not be an Offensive hero. The player’s playstyle should be aligned with the character’s. Venture ‘sventure’s role in a team, or rather her playstyle, is also really aggressive and meant to take the first break from the enemy team. Her kit allows her to pierce through into the enemy’s defence and take charge.
Venture is meant to be annoying to face off as an opponent. She has an overpowering drilling ability, which, if you are a creative player, can be lethal. Also, her burrow is really helpful when you need to be out of focus for a few seconds. I will discuss how and when to use the Venture’s kit. As long as you are an aggressive player with a creative mind, you would love to play with Venture.
The only thing that is a bummer in the Venture’s kit is that the Smart Excavator does not have enough on it. While that makes sense for close-range fights, Venture’s entire kit has been developed to play as a fast-paced armour-piercing hero. But this projectile weapon’s range makes it harder to take long-distance fights.
Venture’s Abilities:
Clobber (Passive):
Venture’s passive is a melee attack that deals 70 damage when hit correctly: 30 damage directly and 40 damage over time upon the attack. While this is a great melee for Venture, the downside is that if you miss, there’s a good chance that you will get killed because the withdrawing animation is too slow. Use it wisely because if you miss, you are gone.
Explorer’s Resolve (Passive) :
I have talked about this passive earlier in the blog and how you can get creative while using it. Venture’s explorer resolve is a great tool. You can use it to take the heat off you for a few seconds or use it as a shield while aggressive towards the enemies. Explorer’s resolve gives Venture a temporary but instant shield for every ability used. She gets a boost in 40 shields, while her ultimate gives her a 75-point increase in the shield. Taking the overall hp to 325.
Innovative Excavator (Weapon):
The innovative excavator is the Venture’s weapon. It is a projectile-based weapon that launches a seismic charge that bursts after travelling for 16 meters. The burst also damages nearby enemies. The maximum damage is 25 to 45 on a direct hit, and as I’ve said earlier, the Venture’s weapon is lacklustre because of its shorter length and minimal damage.
Drill Dash (Ability):
The drill dash ability is self-explanatory. Upon usage, Venture underground while becoming a drill and pushing forward. Its duration is a mere 0.9 seconds. It damages 40hp on the first hit and 60 more damage over 0.4 seconds. The cooldown on the drill dash is 8 seconds. The maximum range that you could travel is 10 meters, so it’s ideal in the situation of getting out of focus.
It can also be used with a burrow to make the most out of it by being an invincible drill machine that can pop out of the ground at any second. There’s a lot of room in it to be creative.
Burrow (Ability)
During burrow ventures, they become invulnerable. The duration of the burrow is around 4 seconds, which is enough for her to get back to her allies or push and rush on to the enemies. The burrow damages around 75 to 110 hp upon max charge and provides a surplus in movement speed for about 40%, which is genuinely awesome considering that you are invincible to your enemies.
Tectonic Shock:
Venture’s Ultimate also has quite good use cases. The tectonic shock sends out damaging electrical shock waves, which damage the enemies for 130 hp. The tectonic shock is pretty similar to Reinhardt’s earth shatter. The difference between the two is that Venture’s tectonic shock covers a larger distance and does more damage than Reinhardt’s earth shatter.
The tectonic shock has four charges, which can be cast in the 7 seconds of its duration. Venture’s ultimate is good in some scenarios. In situations where your enemies are low, tectonic shock is an excellent tool to use to finish them. It can also be used for a quick rush as it launches the enemies into the air, which makes them an easier target to kill.
Team Composition:
As we know, any hero is good as long as the supporting members of the team also contribute. Overwatch heavily relies on the team aspect, and every hero has a purpose in the team. With adequately calibrated heroes that complement each other, winning games is possible. As for the team composition with Venture, multiple heroes can be mixed and matched with Venture to maximize the firepower.
The first on the list is Moira, a support hero. Moira is the best pair with Venture as both of them are extremely capable in short-range fights. Moira could complement Venture with her health orb, while Venture could benefit from it by combining the explorer’s resolve with Moira’s health orb. Whenever Venture gets out of the ground, the health orb could give her a boost in health.
The second Venture pairing is Ana, as she is the most picked hero in the game and can be a great pair of Venture. While Moira helps her by providing a necessary health boost in a close-range fight, Ana could heal her from a longer distance. Ana and Venture also have the same ethnicity, as both of them are from Egypt.
Tips And Tricks For Venture:
Now that we have discussed Venture’s abilities, her playstyle, and which heroes are perfect for her, we need to talk about how to use her kit to its maximum potential. I will suggest something that you can do with her abilities that will surely help you in the upcoming matches.
As I’ve said earlier, Venture’s weapon range is limited, which is why her best use case scenario is the close-range fight, in which she can play like Reaper and dive and dive out as per the situation’s requirements. Use burrow to rush into the enemy’s side while drilling. This will take their focus off your team, and Venture could be an excellent bait for it. While burrowing, she is essentially invincible, and it is a win-win situation if played out correctly.
Another thing that you could do with burrowing is to get the feel of the situation, be the doom guy for the enemy team, and slice everything up by burrowing and popping in and out several times.
Venture’s weapon, the innovative excavator’s bullets, also burst after travelling some distance. While she excels at close-range fights, she can also use this burst to her advantage by aiming lower than expected in the headshot place. Adjusting your crosshair placement to the torso of the enemies can give them neat damage. It also helps the players who have lousy aims to be heroes.
Keep in mind that her ultimate can be blocked by a shield or just by getting upwards in the air. This is the best chance to make it work. It is to use it while you are not in on one fighting and are unnoticed. The heroes who have aerial abilities can easily dodge her ultimate, so be aware of it while using it.
Wrapping it up:
This is the end of this guide, and we have discussed pretty much everything about Venture. Apart from the origin story of this hero, we have discussed her playstyle, her kit, and which hero to pair her with. We also talked about the things that you can perform to maximize your chances of winning. I am hoping that this guide will help you play Venture better in your next match.
