Overwatch 2 Season 17 Release Date
Overwatch 2 Season 17 is set to start on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11 am. Pre-load will be going for the new update as well, before the update launches. The new season will run for eight weeks and a mid-season content update will be arriving at a later date.
New Flashpoint Map: Aatlis
Season 17 brings a new Flashpoint map called Aatlis. There will be now three total Flashpoint maps in Overwatch 2. The new map is based on Morocco and shows off cultures. Moreover, other Flashpoints map Suravasa and New Junk City will receive reworks with new season. However, the reworks will arrive at mid-season patch.
Map Voting is a new addition to Overwatch, coming with Season 17. Map voting will work in competitive matchmaking, giving players option to choose what map they decide to play. Two Stadium maps are also coming Esperanca and Samoa. Stadium mode has been a hit with the addition last season. As it adds new ways to play the game and you need to use Tank heroes for better control.
D.Va and Reaper Mythic Skins in Overwatch 2 Season 17

Overwatch 2 Season 17 will have two Mythic Skins for the first time in a season, and they are for D.Va and Reaper. D.va gets Horang Mythic skin and it’s like a Siberian tiger skin and has four tiers with cool VFX, voice lines and Horang lore.

- Level 1: Tiger armor and a hat with sleek, fierce white styling.
- Level 2: Bun hairstyle with upgraded visuals in a cinnabar red colorway.
- Level 3: Flex braids and a wild tiger mask in a pink tinted colorway.
- Level 4: Hit full tiger mode with ambient spirit energy, glowing effects, and flourishes that radiate power.
Reaper is also getting a Mythic skin and his guns now have Scythe-like blades. Reapers new skin has a really cool weapon skin called Steel Death Weapon. Here’s everything you can get from the Mythic.
- Level 1 Base: Brutal, sharp, soulfire-infused shotguns built for lethal precision.
- Level 2 Reactivity: Weapons flare with dark energy as you deal damage.
- Level 3 Flourish: Intricate glowing details surround your shotguns.
- Level 4 Kill FX: Finish foes with haunting swirled shadows and sound effects that embody Reaper’s fury.
Season 17 Battle Pass
Season 17 battle pass is inspired by 8-bit and includes skins for Genji, Sombra, and Reinhardt. And the ultimate battle pass includes Widowmaker skin called Principal Lacriox.
Season 17 Gameplay Updates
As revealed with the new trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 17, there will be a ton of changes coming to the game. Here are some new changes to matches, new hero, collaborations and more coming in Overwatch 2.
- Hero number 44 is called Wuyang and will come out in Season 18. A trial period will take place during this season to give players a chance to test him. The character is currently known as Aqua, but this won’t be his final name.
- A G.I. Joe collaboration is set to take place during this season.
- The Summer Games event is set to return during this season.
- Junkrat, Sigma, and Zenyatta will be added to Stadium.
- Stadium ranks will be reset, the Drives event will expand to this mode, and Stadium will be added to Custom Games.
- The Powered Up event will take place from June 24 to 30. Players can complete 17 matches to earn four epic loot boxes, with a guaranteed legendary skin within.
- Hacks & Hijinx is a new 6v6 limited-time mode for Control maps where modifiers are applied to the game and rotate every round. The mode will be available from June 15 to 28.
