Havana Basic Information

Havana map overwatch 2

Havana is the capital city of Cuba. In Havana, players find themselves battling through the colorful, bright streets of Cuba’s capital. As the payload rolls through a distillery before completing its journey in an imposing cliffside fort, the tropical feel continues.

Point A is a sniper’s paradise in Havana. The payload pushes down a long, wide street with relatively little cover at this point in Havana. Long-range DPS can have a field day on defense because high ground with numerous columns sits at the end. To counter that type of defense, as can shields, Dive comps can work well for attackers. if they set up a stout Bunker comp then the defenders can often pull off full-holds on Point A.

Point B is the most claustrophobic in Havana. Attackers have numerous routes to try and disrupt the defenders as high-ground walkways line the distillery as the payload moves beneath. For both attackers and defenders, the Brawl comps excel in this section. Flankers can also easily sneak into the backline for crucial picks on this point.

The last and final area of the map reverts to a more open environment. Attackers will have to dodge long-range poke without a lot of cover to work with as the payload makes its way up the hill toward the fort. A single DPS can easily put a stop to even the strongest and highly effective attacks on Point C. The bridge to get there and the cliffs around the fort offer many opportunities for environmental kills as well.

Learning about the locations and layout will definitely help you quickly improve your rank in Overwatch 2!

Havana Gameplay

Havana is an Escort Map that includes three main locations. The City Streets, the Distillery, and the Sea Fort.

City Streets

The City Streets are the first part of the map and here is the attacker’s spawn. There is a very long open street that leads up to several curves and buildings right then left up to the distillery. To provide cover, there are buildings along the road, as well as obtain high ground for both defenders and attackers.

Distillery

With a second floor that extends around the edges and center of the building, the Distillery is an enclosed building. To let you and your team move above the checkpoint, there are large Vats blocking sightlines, as well as an office building near the end with a corridor. For the first checkpoint defense, defenders spawn in the distillery. Before heading straight, the payload curves around the right of the inside of the building.

Sea Fort

With very minimal cover, the Sea Fort has a very large straight heading up to it. Defenders can use the gaps in the Sea Fort or destroyed buildings on the corner to maintain high ground. On the entrance to the fort is an environmental hazard which also follows the straight to the fort in this section. Inside the fort, two high grounds provide cover sightlines depending on the side. The left side of the Fort has an opening which can be flanked. The defenders spawn at the corner building and finally spawn in the Sea Fort for the final defense.

Tips for Playing Havana

Consider positioning your team right up against the enemy team’s spawn room before the match begins while playing as the defender. This might catch them by surprise if you are stealthy in your approach. You want a good cover to fight around, so in this case, the gas pumps located outside the Attacking spawn room can be used.

The section of Havana beyond Point A features catwalks, narrow corridors, and other avenues. Heroes with “zoning” abilities, such as Sojourn’s Disruptor Shot or Mei’s Ice Wall can be utilized here perfectly.

The payload will move along the objective route much quicker than with only one, with only three teammates on the payload. Consider leaving a teammate on the payload with either high mobility should they need to catch up with the team in a pinch (Lucio or Solider: 76) or long sightlines (Widowmaker or Ana) only if your team needs to push up to cut off the enemy team’s advance.

Baptiste is so insane for this map; he can take late flanks on first-point defense or attack with the high ground any time he wants to and just disengage with lamp. On second-point attack or defense, you can just play those tall brewing tank things right in the middle, at the top, and as long as you don’t get greedy and stay too long it’s a good spot if they don’t contest you. The third point is more meh for defense but on the attack, you can jump up to the wall on the left and get an OP angle and if you get rushed your team is right there.

Team Explanation

This team composition makes use of Havana’s tight corridors and high ground to its strength, using Heroes that excel in medium and long-range firefights and in holding down choke points and narrow pathways. Choose the team comp wisely as the win percentage of your match depends on it.

Alternative Tanks

Zarya: To empower her Particle Cannon and let her take down groups of foes along Havana’ tight choke points with ease, Zarya provides great damage mitigation with her Barriers. When combined with her allies’ other ultimates, Graviton Surge is also an excellent disruptive ultimate for team fights around control points.

Winston: Winston can quickly reach and take advantage of Havana’s vantage points and high ground with Jump Pack and dispatch isolated targets with Tesla Cannon. His Primal Rage and Barrier Projector are also great for controlling space, providing cover, and disrupting enemy positioning in team fights along the map’s choke points and control points.

Orisa: Orisa is another best alternative Tank for Havana. Fortify and Javelin Spin allow her to absorb damage efficiently, with the latter also capable of blocking projectiles and disrupting enemy positioning. Her Energy Javelin and Terra Surge are strong crowd control skills when you use them around the map’s choke points and objectives.

D.Va: D.Va is also a must-pick alternative Tank in Havana. She quickly bursts down foes in the map’s narrow corridors with Micro Missiles and Fusion Cannons and also protects her team from projectiles with Defense Matrix. Her Boosters also shine in Sanctum and it allows her to easily shove foes into the control point’s pitfall. When positioned properly along Havana’s control points and choke points, her Self-Destruct can also be a devastating ultimate.

Alternative Damage

Ashe: Ashe is a great midrange marksman for Havana, capable of inflicting heavy burst damage from its tight choke points and vantage points with Dynamite explosions and Viper headshots. B.O.B. is also an excellent ultimate for contesting payloads while providing her team with additional damage and crowd control.

Sombra: Sombra is another potent alternative flanking hero in Havana. She can move through sightlines unseen with Translocator and Stealth, quickly reaching key enemy targets and disrupting and dispatching them with Hack. To deal with heavy percentage-based damage and inflicting Hack on all nearby foes, her EMP is also great for initiating team fights on control points and inside narrow pathways.

Soldier: 76: Soldier: 76 is a well-rounded alternative frontline pick in Havana, sporting a potent Hitscan with a Heavy Pulse Rifle and excellent burst damage with Helix Rockets. To take advantage of the map’s open sightlines to attack from different angles, maneuver around the map with Sprint, and set up devastating Tactical Visor plays, he can quickly reposition.

Hanzo: Hanzo is the best marksman for defending teams in Havana. He can provide information about enemy positioning with Sonic Arrow and can land lethal charged headshots with his Storm Bow. His Dragonstrike ultimate is also capable of eliminating entire enemy teams when used along the map’s narrow pathways and choke points.

Alternative Supports

Kiriko: Kiriko can quickly cut through Havana’s long sightlines and high ground with Swift Step to escape from danger and reach teammates in need. Her Protection Suzu is also incredibly potent when used in the map’s control points and choke points when playing against enemy Ana players. With its numerous buffs, Kitsune Rush also excels at defending and attacking control points.

Zenyatta: Zenyatta pairs well with Havana’s high vantage points and long sightlines that let him efficiently mark teammates with Orb of Harmony and crucial enemy targets with Orb of Discord. To provide supportive fire and land devastating critical hits, he can also efficiently use Orbs of Destruction from these positions. His Transcendence is also great for defending control points with its massive healing aura.

Mercy: To provide constant streams of healing and damage boosts with Caduceus Staff, Mercy easily follows her mobile teammates around using Guardian Angel. Her utility and mobility are further enhanced when she uses Valkyrie as she can take advantage of Havana’s high verticality and ample cover. Mercy also provides her team with Resurrect, which has the potential to break stalemates and turn team fights around.

Baptiste: Due to Havana’s tight corridors, Baptiste offers potent area-based healing with the help of Regenerative Burst and Biotic Launcher while fortifying his team’s positioning with Amplification Matrix and Immortality Field To provide him with better angles for healing allies and shooting foes, he can also access the map’s high ground with Exo Boost.
