League of Legends is having a ton of players logging in to the game amid LOL Arena mode which was added to the game in May. Arena has been part of LOL for a couple of months now and is finally coming to an end.
Another reason for LOL players’ hype is Worlds 2024 which will be taking place from September 25, 2024. Riot has two new patches 14.17 and patch 14.18 were released this week. These patches are to ensure the competitive balance in Worlds 2024.
However, LOL Arena is coming to an end soon. With its addition to the game with Season 13. The Arena was first added with the Soul Fighters Summer event back in Season 13.
Here is everything you need to know about LOL Arena and when it is ending.
LOL Arena mode
Arena has become one of the most popular game modes that has come to LOL. Arena is also known as 2v2v2v2, Arena has its separate tier lists for new content and Arena ranked system. But Arena being a temporary game mode is being rotated out this month. Arena will be ending with Season 14 of LOL.
When is LOL Arena ending?
League of Legends Arena will be coming to an end on September 27, 2024. Also, patch 14.19 will be going live on September 27. However, official patch notes and balance changes will be revealed by Riot on a closer date to the new patch.
Arena was originally set to end on September 10, 2024, but Riot has extended the mode for 2 more weeks for players to enjoy. Here is when Arena will come to an end in different LOL Regions
- West Coast U.S.: 6 PM PT
- East Coast U.S.: 8 PM CT
- EU West: 3 AM CET
- EU East: 4 AM MSK
- Korea: 10 AM KST (Thursday, Sept. 26)
- China: 9 AM CST (Thursday, Sept. 26)

What is upcoming after LOL Arena?
LOL Arena’s end date is very strategically placed by Riot. Riot’s goal is to line it up perfectly following the Worlds 2024 event. Spellbook 2024 limited-time mode is also coming to LOL with the new patch 14.19. We will be having a decent playlist in the new patch for League of Legends.
However, the biggest reason is due to the 2025 League preseason which is coming on to us quickly. Preseason will be started in December. Preseason will be live with patch 14.24. Also, there will be an early playtest for preseason as well which has yet to be announced.
LOL Arena will never become a permanent mode
Riot has previously suggested that LOL Arena will never become a permanent mode. There has been no specific reason given by the team for this statement. The team also added “We sent [Arena] out, saw where players wanted to engage, then brought it back to the lab. Our goal’s to get it to that point where it’s sustainable long term.”
However, the goal of Riot is to keep LOL players focused on Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss. As well as the new limited-time events that are added throughout different Seasons in 2024.
Riot also focused on bringing back Arena mode more often. They want to increase the number of events in League of Legends. There have been two major success events with Gladiator mode and League Swarm mode.
You can still enjoy Arena throughout September 27, 2024. And hopefully, next Summer Arena will be making a comeback with more content and balance changes.
