Destiny Rising Gacha 2025 Guide: Rates, Pity System & Real Pull Costs Explained

There’s a new wave of free-to-play games flowing into our libraries. Each one tries to do things differently and most often than not fails miserably, and then costs the company millions in the process. Some games that were supposed to be titan killers of the industry couldn’t even survive a year in the industry, let alone make a name for themselves. Almost every new mainstream Free-to-play game is there to be an industry leader, but the market is so saturated that there’s not enough pie of the players left to share among them.

Now, the thing that is almost too good with these new games is that they provide real value to their free-to-play players, which means that they give you in-game cosmetics and stuff even when you don’t buy in-game currencies or anything like that. In this blog, we are going to explain how that system actually works, and the example of a game we are going to use is Destiny Rising and its gacha system. If you don’t know what the gacha system is, then don’t worry, I’ll explain that as well in a bit.

What’s the Gacha System?

So the literal word gacha means “the clicking sound”, the clicking sound of a vending machine. So the gacha system is the process or an in-game mechanic in which a player spends real-life money or in-game currency to get random virtual items, including cosmetics, weapons, or characters. That’s literally how it works in almost all of the free-to-play games, or even in some paid games. Whether that’s pubg, Counter-Strike strike or any other major Free-to-play game, a player spends in-game currency, which he gets from either playing the game long enough or by paying in real life, in the hope of landing a cosmetic that they really like.

There’s a big reason behind it, which we’ll discuss on a different day, because right now our topic is to explain how the gacha system in Destiny 2 works, so let’s jump into that topic right now.

How does it work in Destiny Rising?

So now that you know the ins and outs of the Gacha system, let’s talk about how it works in Destiny Rising. So firstly, let’s talk about the currencies that are used in this system.

So there are lumia leaves. This is the main currency you will spend to pull characters. The light bearer or the guardians (whatever you wanna call them). You could get this currency either by spending some real-life money or by completing daily and weekly quests. There’s also silver currency, which is considered the premium currency since it can only be bought via real money. Lastly, there are charms like Bon Voyage Charms, and these are the ones you use to pull specific banners, which are limited in quantity in a few cases.

Now, let’s talk about how much it costs to pull, and there’s no variation here. The single pull costs 180 lumia leaves while 10 of them cost 1800, which means there’s no effect of you pulling once or pulling 10 times other than convenience.

So let’s compute the real-life cost of pulling in the game. If you’re not a free-to-play player, then this is how much it is going to cost you.

  • Single pull price: about $3 (small Packs)
  • Single pull price: about $2.32  (big bundle).
  • Sixty pulls total: about $180 using small packs.
  • Sixty pulls total: about $139.20 using the big bundle.

Apart from the normal pull system, there are featured banners which are particular Guardians with Boosted Odds. So if you pull from a rate-up banner, you might have higher chances to get that featured hero rather than the basic one from the pool. Also, there are two types of these “banners”: there are permanent and there are limited-time ones, which have exclusive heroes in them.

Last thing I want to add here is that the gacha system in the game is only available for the characters of the game; it does not apply to any other aspect of the game. Whether it’s a weapon or a gear.

Pity System & Odds:

So the pity system is a safety net for you because the odds of getting anything from the pull are random. The pity system means that after a certain number of pulls, the game will increase the odds of you getting a rare hero. While you could still get lucky and pull a rare hero early but the more you pull, the better your odds of pulling will be.

Now there are two types of pity in the game. There’s soft pity and there’s hard pity. So firstly, the soft pity means the chances of you getting a featured hero start with a measly 0.8% and it increases with each pull by the same percentile.

The hard pity, however, starts when you are at the maximum number of pulls required, and once you hit that number, there’s a hundred percent guarantee of you getting a featured Guardian in your inventory.

Lastly, there’s no fifty-fifty mechanic after hitting hard pity, so you’re not going to risk getting a different rarity and off-banner character. You’ll get the banner hero directly. Here’s a table that depicts the odds of pulling and the chances of you getting the banner character while pulling.

Pull NumberOdds:
1-29Super Low 0.8%
30Starts to climb significantly.
50Somewhere around the neighborhood of 60%
60100% Guarantee for the Featured Hero (hard Pity)

Conclusion:

Now that we have reached the end of this blog, I hope you have a full understanding of the gacha system and what it entails. How does it work, what are the odds of you winning, and everything in between? So if you’re a free-to-play player, don’t worry, you’ll get the same stuff as paying players just a little later on.  That’s about it for the blog; we have discussed everything there was to discuss about the topic.
