Emma Frost Marvel Rivals Complete Guide 2025

Discover everything you need to know about Emma Frost in Marvel Rivals, including her abilities and playstyle.

Emma Frost is the new vanguard in Marvel Rivals. She’s a three-star difficulty hero, meaning she’s not super hard to play. You need to think carefully about when and how to use her abilities to maximize impact. Her gameplay revolves around adapting to the situation at hand. Emma Frost has another huge strength, and that’s her ability to duel tanks even in a 1v2 if necessary. She’s a bona fide frontline hero, which means she’s very likely to be engaged with enemy vanguards a lot. You need to understand the mechanics of her abilities, as your gameplay mostly revolves around them. In this guide, we’ll discuss all Emma Frost’s abilities, how to use them effectively, and the best tips and tricks to play.

Emma Frost Abilities

Here are all of Emma Frost’s abilities in Marvel Rivals, along with tips for using them effectively.

Telepathic Pulse (Primary Ability)

This is a very unique mechanic in which its damage ramps up the more that you hit targets. There’s a nice trick to maintain the highest energy to deal the most damage. But here are some stats for the actual damage values. With zero energy, you’ll deal 70 damage per second. This will scale up to 120 damage per second when you have 99 energy. When you reach 100 energy, that damage will go from 120 per second all the way to 150 per second. So, having the energy meter at 100 significantly increases your damage compared to 99 and below. But the energy meter falls off rapidly after just 3 seconds of not hitting a target. You can maintain the energy bar by going into your diamond form.

Mind’s Aegis (Secondary Ability)

Now, next up, I wanted to talk about her shield. First of all, if you’re just trying to place the shield directly in front of you to give yourself some cover, I’d recommend looking slightly towards the ground and placing it at a specific sort of angle. That’s because the shape of the shield is a diamond. If you just have it in the air, it does become an awkward shape where the only real cover that you’re getting is when you’re standing directly in the middle. However, if you place it slightly into the ground, I find it provides a more useful area of cover. Make sure you’re using the shield to create space for your team because you can place it so far in front of you. Push it right up to the enemies and use that space to walk forward. This allows your team to apply pressure to the enemy rather than just throwing it right in front of you and having to wait three more seconds to reposition it.

Psychic Spear

Her Psychic Spear ability, which is a skill shot, so you have to hit your targets, is one of the most important parts of any combo with Emma Frost. It pulls the crystal from the enemy, and it has a 20 m range. So, it’s got more range than your primary fire. So, if the enemies walk out of your primary fire range, you can always throw the Psychic Spear to finish them off. Now, if the enemy walks 15 m away from the crystal, then it will be destroyed. The crystal’s health will be 25% of the target’s current health. So, when an enemy is lower, it’s easier to destroy the crystal. When the crystal shatters, it deals 25% of the target’s maximum health.

Using the psychic spear on a slightly lower health target allows you to delete them from the game. It has the unique ability that your primary fire does piercing damage through the crystal. If the enemy is standing behind the crystal, you can hit the enemy and the crystal at the same time. This allows you to deal two ticks of damage for both your primary fire and damaging the crystal at the same time, as well as destroying the crystal, dealing the extra 25% damage.

Diamond Form

Now, another more general thing to keep in mind when using your diamond form to combo enemies. If you aren’t going for the full combo, one of the best ways to utilize the Diamond Form’s abilities is by kicking enemies into your team. Displace them, and allow your team to finish them off. This works primarily against the enemy’s frontline tanks. If I use the choke slam in diamond form, it automatically turns me around. Now, if I just kick him towards my team, he’s going to be cut off from his teammates.  Your team should hopefully be able to kill them. It’s a really good ability, and with a well-placed shield before or after, you can cut off their healing completely.

The diamond form is also a great defensive ability because it makes you CC immune, along with giving you a 35% damage reduction. So, increasing your survivability, but also allowing you to counter every kind of stun in the game. You literally cannot be slept by mantis in this. You cannot be pulled, grabbed, or eaten by a Jeff. You can simply pop your diamond form when these abilities are incoming and then cancel your diamond form after to get right back into the action. Make sure you are doing this, and it stresses the importance of tracking enemy ults and abilities as best you can.

Carbon Crush

Whenever Emma Frost enters diamond form, she becomes a walking fortress of psychic-infused muscle. At the heart of it, that tanky chaos is Carbon Crush. An aggressive cinematic ability that lets her lunge forward, grab a target, and slam them onto the ground. Carbon Crush is a gap-closing grab attack. Emma lunges forward a short distance, locks onto an enemy, and lifts them off the ground in a crystal dab grapple. Once she has them, she brings them crashing down in a violent slam that deals burst damage and briefly leaves the target vulnerable. It can pretty much cancel every ultimate in the entire game, which is insane.

Psionic Seduction (Ultimate)

The range of Emma Frost’s ultimate is huge. It’s 30 m and it takes 1.5 seconds for an enemy being in your alt for them to become controlled. This means they can’t use any of their abilities, and this can also cancel ults. Of course, you’ve got that 1.5-second timer, so it’s much harder to pull off than the grab. The ultimate deals damage itself, but the damage falls off depending on the angle at which the enemy is to you. So, if you wanted to focus on a specific target in your route, make sure you’re aiming close to them with your crosshair. This will make sure it deals the maximum amount of damage. Let’s say you have one of the enemy supports in your alt along with some other heroes, but you’re trying to kill the support.

Emma Frost Playstyle

At the start of a match or during neutral phases of a fight, Emma shines in her normal telepathic form. This is where her ability to poke, protect, and manipulate enemy positioning really comes into play. Now, because of the sheer amount of damage he can actually output, I typically find you best playing from the backline or the midline. This strategy depends on the situation. Position yourself near natural cover or behind your tankier ally so you can freely use telepathic pulse per beam like primary attack. It’s excellent for applying sustained pressure to enemies, especially squishy DPS or overexposed strategists. Now, following all this, look for opportunities to tag tanks or front liners with the sciatic spear. This ability allows you to pressure even the most durable enemies from a distance.
