How to Change Name in Overwatch 2 – Pc, Xbox, Playstation 2024

A subtle but big thing in gaming is that we get to pick our own username and gamer ID. It is the thing that we don’t get to choose in our real life. While this might not seem a big deal, a good username can get a bit more attention from other players due to its uniqueness or the bizarreness of the player tag and username.

Before we start with the name-changing techniques in Overwatch 2, I am happy to announce that now we are offering ow2 boost options for all the players around the globe! We not only boost all servers but all platforms!

Change name in Overwatch Guide

Choosing your username has always had its phases because several factors play roles in choosing your username. For instance the availability of the name, or the age and emotions you are feeling while choosing the username. Because in your teenage years, or the early stages of your gaming life you’ll most likely choose a  corny or straight-out weird name in the game and eventually you will phase out from that name and most likely cringe at it. That is why naming your account the simplest things is a good practice.

So you cannot change your username in some games and platforms, like Steam. if you want a different username you will have to create a whole new account and have to start with zero. Luckily in this blog, we are going to talk about overwatch and how to change your battle against it.

Because Overwatch is a multiplatform game I will list down all of the three platforms’ methods about how to change your username in each of these platforms.  Keep in mind that changing your battle Tag costs money. While doing it for the first time is free. So if you are changing it right now for the first time it’ll not cost you a penny but after it, you will have to buy it for 10$. Which might or might not be a big thing depending on the location where you live.

So firstly I will address the biggest piece of the pie “the Windows users” because they make up 80 to 90% of the game’s player base. so changing your user name in Windows is quite simple. Here’s how you can change your name:

  • Go to Blizzard’s website and log into your account. After that go into account details you will find it just right below from the account overview tab.
  • Now slowly scroll through until you find the battle tag. Now in that section click on update that will be on top right.
  • Now change your name however you like. After that just click on “Change your battle tag”.
  • Keep in mind that only the first name change is free and after that, you will have to buy it from Blizzard. However, it will take at least 5 to 7 minutes till the changed battle tag appears in the game or it could take even 24 hours depending on the platform and the region you play in.

Just like that, you have successfully changed your in-game name.

Changing your username or battle tag is more or less the same on consoles. So here’s how you can change your name on PlayStation:

  •  Firstly you will have to go to the main dashboard and then you’ll have to click on settings.
  • Now you just have to go into the accounts section by clicking on “Users and accounts”. After that, you’ll have to submit your credentials.
  • Now you’ll have to select “change” on the BattleTag tab and you have to create your new Battle Tag and you’re done.

Like in PC in Playstation you will also have to pay 10$ for your second name change. So beware of changing your in-game name frequently.

In Xbox, the process of changing your display is easier than on PS. here’s how you can get it done.

  • Firstly you have to press the Start the 5 button or the “Xbox button” After that you’ll now have to go to Xbox Profiles.
  • Now click on “Customize profile” After that click on your current gamer tag and browse till you find the option called “Choose your new GamerTag.”
  • Simply put in your new name and you’re done.

Changing your name in Overwatch 2 is more hassle than many other mainstream multiplayer games But it is what it is. I have covered all of the main platforms where the game is available and I hope that you have found this guide helpful.
