Increase FPS in Valorant – A complete Guide of 2023

When it comes to online multiplayer, apart from having, cracking reflexes, crisp aim, and mastery of mechanics, your hardware matters a lot. Your peripherals, PC specs, and Refresh rate all contribute towards giving you the advantage over your opponents.

In a competitive online tactical shooter like valorant, having all the combinations of the above can help you out immensely when grinding through the ranks. In today’s article, I will be telling you how to get more FPS from your rig so you can have all the advantages that you need over the enemy.

Before we start with the article, if you are looking to boost up your rank, you can hire me by choosing Valorant boosting Service

Closing background Programs

Before we go into depth and game settings let’s see what we can do to boost our rig’s performance before launching valorant:

  • Close all background applications such as Spotify, IDM, Torrent etc.
  • Open task manager and close all Google-related software instances.
  • People usually launch Discord to communicate in-game which takes a lot of resources, instead use TeamSpeak as it isn’t very resource intense.
  • Make sure you meet the Valorant minimum requirements as well which includes having Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU, Intel HD 3000 GPU, 4 GB RAM, and Windows 7.

If this doesn’t give you a big FPS boost then don’t fret as there are many other things you can do to increase those FPS.

Tweaking Windows Performance Settings

Windows doesn’t have a great track record of allocating the PC resources where they are required so here are some tweaks that you can do in Windows to boost your FPS in-game.

  • Head into Control Panel and go to power options, make sure that the high-performance mode is checked.
  • Turning game mode on can also give a decent FPS boost. To turn it on you can search Game mode settings in the Windows search bar and also turn the Xbox Game Bar off as it takes up a lot of resources that can be utilized by the game.
  • Set the priority of Valorant as a high preference. You can enable this setting by searching “graphics settings” in the search bar.
  • Enable Hardware Acceleration.
  • Restart your PC

When you have completed the Windows tweaks as mentioned above this should boost your FPS in the game. Make sure you check the task manager and the services tabs and stop the unnecessary background services that Windows starts unnecessarily in the background.

Valorant In-game settings

Now that the window tweaks have been performed you are ready to go in-game and start your Rank grind but before you start the match, you need to make some tweaks in the in-game video settings for the max FPS that your rig can dish out for maximum advantage.

Before we go into video options here are some settings that you can turn off in the general settings which limit FPS

Uncheck these options:

  • Show Mature Content
  • Show Corpses
  • Show Blood

Now that you have unchecked them now is time to head over to the video settings and do some video tweaking:

First things first, Lower the resolution and select the 1280x720p resolution as this will allow your PC to process less information on the screen and hence give more FPS as a result

  • Make sure you turn the shadows off as they can be quite demanding to render.
  • Set AA or Anti-Aliasing to a minimum as AA smooths out edges but at the expense of the Graphics power available.
  • Post Processing Effects should also be turned off as it draws a lot of system resources as well.
  • Set the improve Clarity option to on as it can lead to a sharpened rendered image of players allowing you to discern the enemy from the environment.
  • Keep the rest of the settings off or low

This will improve your FPS in the game no matter which maps you are playing. Also, these settings will reduce input lag which also plays a part in getting the advantage over your enemy and can be the difference between winning and losing

Keep GPU Drivers updated

Make sure that you are running the latest Drivers on the GPU as older drivers have been found to cause performance issues. You can update your drivers through your GPU manufacturer’s site or your GPU software as well

Increasing the Virtual Memory on your Rig

If you are running a rig that has low RAM then you can increase the size of your Virtual memory to make sure you get the FPS boost. Here is how you can increase your Virtual memory size:

  • Open the Start menu using the Window key
  • Click on “Advanced system settings.”
  • Under the “Performance” section, click on “Settings.”
  • Click on the “Advanced” tab.
  • Under “Virtual memory,” click on “Change.”
  • Uncheck the “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives” checkbox.
  • Select the drive where the Windows OS is installed.
  • Click on the “Custom size” radio button.
  • Enter a new “Initial size” and “Maximum size” for the virtual memory (it is generally recommended to set the maximum size to at least twice the physical memory).
  • Click “Set” and then “OK.”

This should give you a decent Boost in FPS that will help you gain that advantage that you need over your enemy.

Upgrading your Hardware

If doing all the above doesn’t give you a decent FPS in the game then it’s time you saved up and invested in better hardware as there is only so much that we can do on the software end. Better hardware means better performance and more FPS so it’s a no-brainer that you will get the FPS you need. Valorant is a CPU-dependent game so you should look into improving your CPU, then your GPU, and then RAM as well. Also, if you don’t have an SSD then make sure you add that to your Rig as well as it won’t help in boosting the FPS but help with reducing the loading times in games. I mean you are already intending to spend on improving your hardware, so why not spend it on faster storage?
