Best Apex Legends Horizon Guide! Play like a Predator Player

Hey everyone! Today, I’m going to discuss Horizon, the new Apex Legends hero added in season 7.

She is an aggressive legend with an interesting kit and a tactical ability. Since I’m a Predator Top 500 rank Apex player working with the Apex Boosts service team here at Immortal Boost, I need to know how to play every legend so that if clients ask me to play a specific one, I should be ready.

One of the Apex Legends’ most formidable movement Legends and all the outlands is Hoziron. If you want a truly unique movement Legend, then Horizon will be your best pick. We are going to discuss abilities, playstyle tips, Legend combos, weapons, and meta ranking. So, without wasting any time, let’s get into it. If you want to master Fuse, then do check out the Ultimate Fuse Guide here.

Ability Overview

Starting us off is going to be one of the best abilities in all of Apex Horizon’s passive which is Spacewalk. It is simple but has a lot of usefulness. The passive ability lets Horizon have no fall fatigue or slight sun effect when she does fall from height. Typically, when you fall from a greater height, there is a brief moment when you cannot move again.

However, Horizon does not get the stun, which will let her slide right into a gunfight or avoid fire when you are trying to escape. Additionally, Horizon has increased air maneuverability. This means she can take tighter turns and maneuver a little bit more freely while you’re in the air. The big takeaway is that she has all these natural movement abilities built right into her passive, which means it’s always on.

As for the tactical ability, it is a gravity lift. This is a 10-second lift Horizon can’t throw on the ground to lift herself, teammates, or even enemies up into the air, and it caps out at around 30 meters in height. The cooldown of this ability is 20 seconds after its use and players will be forced out of the lift after being at the top for about 2 seconds. There is a ton that you can do with this lift, which we will discuss later.

Horizon’s Ultimate is going to be a black hole. This is pretty much exactly as it sounds. It’s a black hole that Horizon can throw on the ground to suck up enemies that are inside of its radius. The black hole lasts for 12 seconds and has a three-minute cooldown timer. The black hole has a 175 health pool and it can be destroyed by enemy players pretty quickly so you will need to take care when using it.

Additionally, when the enemies are inside the black hole, they will be highlighted or marked. For me, the black hole is a slightly weaker part of Horizon’s kit; however, it has quite a few uses.

Why Picking Horizon?

If you are asking why you should pick Horizon in Apex Legends, The answer is simple, it is due to her passive and tactical abilities. These two abilities work off one another and they can make for some very exciting gameplay that will let you excel in aggressively taking enemies.

Additionally, it’s going to be these movement abilities that will excel her in fighting multiple enemies at once as they give her a lot of increased survivability.

Tips for Passive Ability (Spacewalk)

It’s arguably the most slept-on portion of Horizon’s kit. Her passive gives a lot more mobility than other Legends when falling because she didn’t get the stun effect when you hit the ground. From dropping down mountains or the ramps of Olympus to just running off a building, Horizonlands with more grace than other Legends in the game. Let’s dig deep into some effective passive tips as we have an emphasis on the sliding capabilities of Horizon’s passive ability.

Slippery Moves

You need to be utilizing this sliding movement when dropping from either onto enemy players to take close-range gunfights or just to escape out of the danger into cover. The big thing is to plan accordingly as you are going to have a little bit extra movement after the fall which could get you into some trouble if you are not expecting it.

Gravity Slide

The second area where the passive can be massively good is coming out of gravity cannons on Storm Point. Since Horizon has increased in air movement, you can navigate yourself further away from the pad by holding your key while in the air. This allows you to approach cannons a little bit more creatively. Additionally, when landing from your cannon ride, you can go into a super slide, and with that, there will be no stun effect from her passive.

Movement

Since you have increased movement capabilities, both bunny hopping and wall jumping will be enhanced. Wall jumping is considerably easier as you can connect the walls a little bit easier, and likewise, bunny hopping around is enhanced as you have greater hopping movement.

Tips for Tactical Ability

Moving into Tactical ability, there are a few most effective uses that you need to have in your arsenal.

The first tip I recommend is to use the lift to gain height for either yourself or your squad. You will do this multiple times every match, and there’s not much to it. Simply drop down that lift and rise in the air.

In the second way you need to be using your lift for defensive plays and this does consist of a handful of things. For example, if you are in a gunfight, you get cracked or you’re pretty weak and shielded you will then want to drop your attack lift and hop into the lift. Pop some healing items whether it will be a battery or some shield cells and then strafe in circles while going up the lift.

At the top, you will want to jump out of the lift and then slide towards cover all while still healing up or getting ready to return fire. You can also heal while staying at the top of the lift but be mindful that you will be forced out after a couple of seconds.

The second defensive play for the tactical lift is to drop it in front of a door or entry point. If a lift is in a doorway, it will stop advancing enemies from breaching. This will allow you to return fire or once again heal up. A second benefit of putting a lift in these areas is that it will add visual clutter and give you even more cover.

Another great thing about the lift is that when you are on the doors and if the enemy is on the other side of that door you can drop the lift on a closed door and it will push enemies off of that doorway. The point is that the lift is superbly great at making the aggressive play but since you do get that lift every 30 seconds from when you do place it down, use it frequently and use it often.

You can also use that lift to transport your knocked teammates. It might not be as quick as something like an Octane pad but it can let knocked teammates get launched in a way that is a little bit more controlled allowing them to get launched in different directions when they are going up the lift.

The lift can be used for more than vertical movement. While you are in the lift, you have perfect accuracy, and players can be wildly effective at raining bolts down onto enemies when they are flying up that lift. If you can get it down, then starting shooting while flying up is so good, but players should learn the act of raining shots down while they are on top of the lift, at least for a couple of seconds.

This can be one of the most effective ways to begin an engagement or just get a quick knock on enemies to even the odds or to get yourself in your squad an advantage.

Advance Tactical Tips to follow

Simple use Horizon lift to flow out of the way of a damaged ultimate like Bangalore or Gibraltar. It’s a free way to prevent taking massive damage or that stunning effect. Almost always when a player puts down a lift then enemies will expect you to make some sort of play off of that lift. A simple thing that you can do is to simply just fake someone out by placing down the lift and then making a play from the ground.

Another pretty useful technique for Horizon’s tactical lift is double riding. You will get ejected when you are at the top of the lift, but a great thing you can do is ride that lift up, jump out when you are nearly at the top, and then reconnect to the lift to take another ride up. This will allow you to stay in the lift a little bit longer, allowing you to put more shots down on enemies or heal up a little bit more.

When using the tactical you do not always need to ride that lift all the way. A great thing that you can do is simply just use the lift for quick redirects. Dropping the lift and then skimming around the sides of it will get you a quick nice launch in any direction you desire.

Similarly, if you do drop the lift at your feet and hold forward then you can launch yourself forward to get a quick jump onto the roof of a building or just to take some sort of height. The reason you do have to drop it on your feet for a forward boost is because if you enter the lift and you want to move forward then it will take you a moment to completely get through that gravity lift.

If you are unaware, the lift will affect more than just players while it is situational. Throwing things like grenades or certain abilities in the lift can cause some confusion to your enemies and this should be an additional playmaker in your arsenal. The other great thing that you can do is to toss Horizon’s black hole into that lift.

Tips for Ultimate (Black Hole)

We have a few tips mainly revolving around Horizon’s black hole. The first is going to be the Horizon combo. This combo involves dropping a lift and then while you are floating up toss your black hole onto an enemy squad and then you launch in an Arc Scar or another grenade for some damage to those that get sucked into the black hole.

This maneuver can eliminate squads and should be used as often as possible. If you have a few grenades, you will want to launch an Arc or two around the black hole so they can get hit by even more damage so that you can cover a larger damage area.

Another great way to use Horizon’s black hole is simply just for covers. Dropping your black hole in open areas or even enclosed buildings can help you get a brief second to heal up. This can be done both with the black hole blocking the enemy’s visuals or just putting the black hole down on yourself.

I recommend you to use black hole as an audio decoy, to get a revive off or just perform a revive while you’re inside or behind that black hole. Drop your black hole in alleys or choke points for some personal cover to escape out of situations where you may be in low health.

Advance Tips for Black Hole

A super situational tip for that black hole is going to be the vertical black hole. Simply throwing your black hole straight up in the air will add an additional delay to its activation before it hits the ground. This can lead you to use this time gap to surprise your enemies to your advantage. It can work to catch chasing enemies off guard or those camping behind doorways.

There is a way to breach into buildings with Horizon’s black hole. If a black hole’s area of effect is within range of a doorway, it will break the door apart, allowing Horizon to make a well-coordinated push into a building. One of the best ways you can do this is to drop a black hole above the door on the roof and then slide down and go through the doorway when the door is breaking.

A quick few more examples for you, the first is that you dropping attack to the lift and then popping a a batter as you go up that lift. You can then just this to get away. In World’s Edge, you can drop the tactical life down and get ready to throw that black hole and then instead of Arc Scar, this time paired up with a couple of Thermites. You can then burn the enemies when they do get ripped off of the roof and you can just laser them down easily.

You would be surprised how many black holes you can get off in a single game if you are active about using it and maybe grabbing a couple of Ult excels here or there, Your ultimate is the huge resource at your disposal and every second that it’s sitting charged and not being used is wasted potential from you as a player. so, the next time you are waiting for that perfect black hole opportunity then just chuck that thing out.

Horizon & Arena

A lot of people have the confusion that Is Horizon any good in the arena? Yes, as all of her abilities continue to have usefulness, and just because she isn’t in the battle royale, Doesn’t mean she loses any of her value. Horizon is a superb Legend in an arena with increased value. As her passive ability is free, it is always on which gives her a huge bump in arena power for no cost.

The only slightly negative point that I would say is her black hole in the arena, it’s not really worth purchasing during the earlier rounds especially. I think items like grenades and more healing items would be a way better purchase than this ultimate ability.

Legends Combos

For Legend combos, there are not too many specific pair-ups to discuss for Horizon. However, any Legend that can take advantage of enemies being trapped in Horizon’s black hole will benefit. They can consist of Legends like Caustic as his gas grenades fused in his motor ultimate and his Knuckle Clusters. Gibraltar and his ultimate or even Pathfinder can pair up with Horizon.

In addition to these damage-centric Legends, any non-movement Legend will also greatly benefit from Horizon as her tactical lift will help her move those squad mains around.

Best weapons for Horizon

We now have the weaponry Horizons should be using and it’s actually pretty important. Raining fire down while floating up the life or at its peak of lift is a pretty big playmaker and an emphasis on mid-range is a must. For those who enjoy marksman or sniper weapons, you may also want to emphasize using these, as an accurate shooter that can get somebody or even headshots on opponents while they are floating up that lift will help you dominate the map.

Counterplay

There are a few things that you might want to know when coming up against the Horizon or even just to understand what other options players have against you. Firstly, if the tactical blocks you at a doorway then if you enter and jump straight out of it. you can sprint straight through it immediately without being affected.

It’s hard to be too specific with recommending Loadouts for Horizon but due to the limited accuracy when using ADS in her and her pushes on enemies from her lift and after her ultimate, she benefits more from close and mid-range weapons.

Horizon’s ultimate makes a distinctive sound when thrown. So, if you suspect it coming your way then consider one clipping early before it can cause any more problems.

Ranking Horizon in Meta

Horizon is pretty insane and she is a top-tier Legend whose value can be seen both in pubs and ranked battle royale as well as arena. There are other Legends out there that may be a little bit more well-rounded but for the majority of players and the majority of experiences Horizon is going to be the top five Legends in Apex Legends. For those players, who want an ultimate movement experience then she’s really a great pick.

Final Thoughts on Horizon

Applying all the Horizon’s abilities is an effective way during the fight will let you dominate any map in Apex Legends. You should get familiar with the several ways that I described that tactical can be placed to be effective. Having these as default responses to certain situations will be the difference between winning and losing. A great combo to master is using her tactical ability to position yourself in an advantageous spot for deploying her ultimate.
