Hey everyone! Today, I’m going to discuss the top-ranked weapons in season 20 of Apex Legends. All the weapons have their worth and they are required according to the situation of the game. Since I’m a Predator Top 500 rank Apex player working with Boosting Apex team members here at Immortal Boost, I need to know which of the weapons are best so that if clients ask me to play a specific one, I should be ready.
Apex Legends season 20 has had the largest meta shift we have ever seen and today I’m going to to rank where every single weapon’s power lies. Weapon meta has changed up and we’re in a season where nearly all of the weapons are viable picks but there are still some weapons that outperform the others. So, here are the best and worst weapons in season 20.
20) P2020
We are going to have what are not necessarily terrible weapons but I do have one that deem to be worst in the game. Not every weapon in Apex can be on top as you need to have a sense of power climb and this of course means the P2020 is on the bottom. The best thing that the P20 has going for it is that it is a transfer weapon.
It’s a light attachment holder and it does a decent damage per mag but it’s time to kill overall usability is just lacking. It’s going to be outgunned by every weapon in the game at extremely close ranges and anything outside of like 25 meters.
19) Charge Rifle
The charge is just extremely impractical although it is kind of fun at times. It’s the worst experience that you can have when an enemy is enclosed at close range and you only have that charge rifle to use. If we have an alternate mode where maybe you could get very minimal output but it was easier to use at close ranges.
If playing ranked then farming Evo can be good if you’re more stationary but you’ll need to drop this weapon before you get to the endgame. I don’t think the charge is per se bad but there are just way more other weapons that are more reliable.
18) Mozambique
Long gone are the days of Mozambique being a complete garbage-tier weapon. Mozambique does have use cases and the big use case is going to be its overall range that it does have. It can do full damage up to 45 meters away which is pretty decent for the shotgun.
The faster fire rate also makes it very flexible and forgiving. There are many secondaries but if you’re in a pinch then Mozambique can work quite nicely and the damage per mag that Mozambique has is not too bad either.
17) Devotion LMG
RPM | 300-900 |
DPS | 80-240 |
While Mozambique can punch up in power I think the devotion severely lacks in overall usability. In my opinion, it is pretty bad but I am going to put it in the underwhelming tier. Its only viability lies when you do get it fully kitted.
It can shred enemies in close ranges but it takes a ton of it to do this and you also size bag to hold all that ammo that you are going to need. If you manage to get all the attachments of Turbo a purple or gold backpack then it does have some usability but even then it’s not going to outclass a lot of other SMGs or assault rifles.
16) Kraber & Bocek
Helmet Level | Headshot Damage |
3/4 (Purple & Gold) | 189 |
2 (Blue) | 210 |
1 (White) | 252 |
Kraber is no longer a one-shot every time because if you have a purple helmet and purple armor, if you have a blue helmet and armor then you’re not going to be able to do one tap someone down anymore. It has slightly increased viability since armors are harder to level up and get to red so you’re going to have more chances to one-shot someone. The Kraber might also falter a little bit if you get it too early in a match and you might want to have the swap weapons mid to end which could be a pretty big deal.
As for Becek, I find that this is similar where if you get it too early on and then it’s not going to last you to the end game. The Bocek is a little more reliable too and overall it’s good for consistent damage output. It’s the best marksman-type weapon in the game even over the 3030 repeater or the triple take.
When you have the Bocek and you’re getting shot by as well then it’s hard to tell where those shots are coming from, which can make it useful and not many other weapons.
15) L-Star EMG
RPM | 600 |
DPS | 170 |
It performs well even with the removal of barrel stabilizers. It has a couple of Nerfs because of these Nerfs I find that the L-Star struggles a little bit more at range and keeping up with its time to kill when you are in closer to mid-range fights against SMGs or other Assault rifles.
It does have a better time to kill than the spitfire and its no reload feature can be very useful if you’re well-disciplined and you have a good trigger finger.
14) Triple Take
The triple take for me is one of the most forgiving easy-to-use weapons in the entire game. It does require a little discipline on the user’s part to get the bigger hits in there as you get to let that choke charge up. It’s one of the underrated weapons right now. Even a small one-third hit has always meant that an enemy has to stop and shield the cell-up.
A big headshot means a battery maybe a little bit you have to use a battery and syringe. One thing that the triple take has over the 30-30 or the G7 is that it does work well in the close to mid-ranges as a mini Eva 8. I find it’s a little bit more useable than other Marksman weapons where you can have a little bit more reliability.
13) Ramage
RPM | 300 |
DPS | 140 |
The Rampage is almost a marksman rifle but it is going to be the most formidable LMG in the game in my opinion, not necessarily in time to kill but in its overall usability. Similarly to the Triple Take, where it’s brainlessly easy to use you can farm massive damage with the Rampage and you don’t need a ton of slots for ammo due to its slower fire rate and its larger hidden round.
The Rampage is great to just unload on grouped-up enemies with his big mag size. Thermites do make it more competitive and unique. Overall, I don’t think that you need to have these but if you are playing Fuse, stacking four to six thermites is incredible. You are not going to sleep on this weapon if you running ranked Apex as it provides a nice middle ground between having the usefulness of a marksman but also having the viability of an assault rifle in the mid-range to close ranges. Rampage is a hybrid weapon that can do a little bit of everything but nothing well over a lot of other weapons.
12) R-301 Carbine
It has been a while since the R-301 was a top-tier must-use weapon due to the damage Nerf it had over a year ago. However, it is still reliable at most ranges. The biggest problem is that it does everything decently well but doesn’t necessarily exceed in anything but one thing. It has got a great range but it’s not the best.
It’s got a great time to kill but it’s going to lose against other assault rifles. The one thing that it does do best is its ease of use. It is far by the most typical assault rifle in the game. If you’re just coming from another game or if you’re new to Apex Legends then this is going to be the first weapon that you should start to use. Just understand that the R-301 is not necessarily going to be that end game or end goal that you’ll want to use in the long run.
11) Havoc
RPM | 1080 |
DPS | 216 |
Havoc sees a slight uptick in its placement this season. When you get a turbo, it’s more like a S-tier Legend. I cannot recommend the Havoc enough if you treat it like an SMG. Level three rounds and 36 mags are huge for one of the fastest-killing weapons in the game. It doesn’t have a greater range so if you want to poke or apply more pressure at range something like a flatline or a marksman rifle is going to be better but if you want to use 30-30 backed up with a Havoc kind of like Havoc is your SMG then this is the way to go.
The only slightest problem with the Havoc is going to be the fact that it is an energy ammo weapon and energy ammo generally is a little bit more scary. Still, since the players are taking the volt a lot more this season it’s not as bad as it has been in the past.
10) R99
RPM | 1080 |
DPS | 216 |
First time in probably two or more years the R-99 has not reached the top-ranking weapon. While it’s still one of the fastest-aiming weapons in the game. It just lacks way too many things to the point where it is a little bit more of a liability than it is worth. The best part is its magazine size. No mag against the blue or purple armor is a brutally difficult thing to do.
Even a level three mag against a purple or red Evo is also difficult. The R-99 also sees more recoil due to a Nerf and the hip fire across the SMGs is just not as good anymore which makes it very difficult to recommend. If you’re an accurate shooter then it’s still incredible.
9) Peacekepper
DPS (Shotgun Bolt Tier) | With Disruptor Rounds |
3/4 (Purple and Gold Shotgun Bolt) 84 | 103 |
2 (Blue Shotgun Bolt) 83 | 101 |
1 (White Shotgun Bolt) 78 | 95 |
0 (No bolt) 73 | 89 |
Peacekeeper is one of the premier secondary weapons to have the best chance to put it out and knock someone down with the largest hit you can do with a single pull to the trigger. You don’t need a lot of ammo with the peacekeeper just only one stack is enough. Peacekeepers are going to require a certain level of skill to be proficient but with no digital threats on SMGs. This makes it an even better option than it has been in the previous season.
Peacekeeper is the best team-fighting shotgun out of the four as you can more reliably control your damage output in 3v3 without just completely emptying the mag like an SMG or the Eva wood. Between this damage output and being able to slide peek to minimize your incoming damage, many great use cases still make the peacekeeper very viable in Apex Legends Meta.
8) Mastiff
Mastiff is the next-level shotgun which I do give the slight edge over the peacekeeper in season 20. You can find it more reliable in terms of damage output. Any sort of midbody shot even from a decent range away means a nice 50 or so hit. If you are close to the enemies you can get a huge 100-hit in there if you do get a little bit of headshot.
For a weapon of this fire rate, it’s huge. This damage output combined with being able to reload one round at a time. Means less downtime and you can stay in the fight for longer as you don’t have to reload the entire mag. SMG is being nerfed again, which kind of means there’s more room for the shotgun to shine.
If you struggle with Peacekeeper then Mastiff is going to be the best entry shotgun in the game right now. Between this and its overall flexibility, it’s a must-use weapon.
7) Flatline
RPM | 600 |
DPS | 180 |
Flatline is the prototypical mid-range weapon that most should gravitate to. The big reason the flatline is one of the top-ranked weapons is going to be a mix between its huge 30-level 3 mag that is incredible for a harder-hitting weapon. Flait is also better in close ranges as well. The hipfire I find to be very reliable in close ranges and if the player does miss a few SMGs on you then this weapon can outduel a lot of SMGs in the game.
Flatline also does not require much in terms of attachments. No barrel, decent dish iron sights and even and even a base round level 20 mag isn’t bad since it is slower shooting and harder hitting. If you’re not a user of burst weapons then the flatline is going to be the best assault rifle mid-range beamer that you are going to want to use.
6) 30-30 Repeater
Headshot Damage | Purple & Gold Helmet | White Helmet | Blue Helmet |
Skullpiercer & Uncharged | 58 | 79 | 65 |
Uncharged | 53 | 67 | 58 |
Charged | 72 | 91 | 78 |
Skullpiercer & Charged | 79 | 107 | 88 |
30-30 repeater is still must use mid to long-range poking weapon. It’s had a handful of nerfs, but I found its performance mostly unchanged. The biggest thing that everyone will notice is that it is a little bit slower. Not necessarily in terms of fire rate but so that you have to reload more often due to the magazine reductions and the reload no longer doing two at a time.
It’s the best weapon to use in the ranked weapon. For pubs, I might gravitate towards the flatline or the hemlock as the distance players are going to be to you is generally closer. It still shreds unlike its competitors the Triple Take and the G7, just can not keep up with the 30-30 repeater damage output.
You can reload one round at a time which means more consistent damage output much like Mastiff.
5) Car SMG
RPM | 930 |
DPS | 202 |
CAR SMG is a more reliable fastest elming weapon. Since the R-99 nerf, the CAR SMG is way more formidable. Not only is it very close in the time to kill, it’s larger mase mag and damage per round means that you will not struggle as much against those with higher level Evos off the drop or even at the end game.
CAR SMG has always had the benefit of added flexibility with either magazine or ammo type. You can split up ammo from your teammates and you’re going to have it get killed out much faster than if you just had to look for a light mag.
4) Prowler
DPS (Full Auto) | 212 |
DPS (Burst) | 167 |
RPM (Full Auto) | 795 |
RPM (Burst) | 627 |
Prowler does not have the fame TTK since it finally has returned to the floor. However, with other SMGs struggling, but with the prowler the larger mag size is pretty huge being able to use it against lower Evo enemies. Due to no shields being on the ground is also a big deal.
With every weapon that you do take in Apex, there has to be a trade-off, so here you’re trading off faster damage output for the ability to take multiple enemies on at once. Being able to side p
3) Nemesis
RPM (Default-Max) | 120-155 |
DPS (Default-Max) | 451-582 |
Slight fall behind another burst assault rifle, we are going to have Nemesis burst AR. Nemesis loses out ever so slightly when you do compare it to the hemlock but for the most part, Nemesis is just incredible. You don’t have as much flexibility at extreme ranges as say a single-fire weapon but it’s close to mid-range time to kill is best.
The biggest problem with this thing is going to be its ability to shred ammo, so you need a little bit of discipline to not just waste shots at dumb ranges but everything else about the Nemesis is way better since its release.
2) Volt
Volt is the best chance between the time to kill, easy to control recoil which means easy, decent mag size, and overall good damage per mag. You aren’t going to short where something like R-99 might. Unlike its energy ammo counterpart, the Nemesis is not going to use as much ammo which is going to be helpful.
The biggest thing that Volt has going for it is that since it’s a lot more controllable at range, you can extend your SMG damage range to be much further than that of a CAR or an R-99. You’re more formidable at these longer-range engagements which are going to help a quite
1) Wingman
RPM | 156 |
DPS | 130 |
Wingman is the Apex Legends most busted weapon right now. If you get a head and then a body shot which this weapon then the enemy is just left crippled to the point where it’s hard to counterplay a wingman player that is head glitching or gets any sort of drop on you.
To make it easier for players to land their shots, the weapon received increased projectile size, and The base damage was increased to 50. For players that land frequent headshots, the new care package Wingman is a lethal weapon. The Wingman skips all headshot damage.
