If you are striving towards the top Radiant rank, then you have to be a versatile player who knows all the strategies that one can use on their enemy to gain the advantage. If you try to apply the same strategy in every map then there is a good chance you will fail and will be taken advantage of by the enemy. This is due to the unique design of every map. This will compel you to become a versatile player and you would need to perform consistently when it comes to ranked games so you can rise through the rank system.

This guide is tailored toward the Split map and I will be discussing the map callouts, tips, tricks, and more in this article.

Split Callouts

Split is a two-site map with a mid-area. It is one of the maps along with Ascent and Bind that were available to play when Valorant was launched initially. Moreover, every map in Valorant has its unique gimmick based on its design. Split’s gimmick is its elevated Mid that connects each site with Ropes that can become a choke point for either side. These ropes also allow the players to quickly rotate from one side to the other.

So, let’s dive into the callouts that you can communicate with your team to give away an expected position of the enemy:

Attacking on Split

Split is a very Defender side map, although the devs have made some changes to the map and the design isn’t the same as before and it is more balanced, nonetheless, attacking Split is quite hard. So, what can you do to win on the attack? Well as the map suggests you should split. Push mid and then a site so you can pressure the defenders into dumping util and wasting it. You will have to deploy a slower playing style to get the jump which will make the defenders overeager and they will make mistakes.

The entrances of both sites are quite narrow so a 5-man rush isn’t always the ideal option so split up and game on.

Defending on Split

Split is a defending-centric map and due to its map design the defense side has a lot of peeker’s advantage at a lot of angles if they use their util correctly, they can delay the enemy from taking control of an area will lead to aggressive plays from the enemy which the defenders can capitalize on.

The key to winning on defense is to delay the spike plant which will lead to the attackers’ making mistakes as they try to rush the site and get the plant before time runs out. When on defense you can choke the site entrance which will force the attack to rotate to the other side or mid and you can force them to rush and make mistakes.

The unique design of the sites also allows players to form crosses between heaven and site which allows them to quickly gather info and catch the enemy off guard since their focus will be on one agent only, giving you the numbers advantage if timed correctly.

Split best agents in Valorant

The best agents pick on any map is having a couple of duelists, one initiator, one sentinel, and one controller. This is the best team combination that you can pick in the game to get an advantage over the other team.

So far, the most important agent on Split is Sage, as her Util is really useful for closing off areas for her team. For Instance, when on defense her wall on mid delays the enemy from taking mid control and they will have to break it giving your team time to rotate to mid, or the enemy will be forced to rotate to push a site, where you can further delay them by smoking the entrance and blocking their vision.

Omen is also a good controller as the elevated map design gives him a lot of flexibility to play off angles and catch the enemy off guard and unaware. Many Omen players just smoke the choke points on the map on defense and hide in their smokes with a shotgun which has a large area of impact at close range. This is a very good tactic because when the enemy is short on time and pushing site, they will come up close and you can catch them off guard.

Cypher is also a good Sentinel and you can see our Cypher Guide by heading towards this link.

Another good agent for Split is Astra as her utility is extremely useful on both defense and attack. When playing defense, you can use her stars to trap the enemy in an area and finish them off with util combos such as a raze grenade or a Gekko molly.

Similarly, Brimstone is also a good agent as he can use smokes on choke points to stop the attackers and the smokes can be used on heaven and other doorways to block the defender’s vision allowing you to gain control of the area. His ultimate is also very powerful util as it can damage multiple enemies spread over a large area rapidly.

Usually, players go with Sage, Raze, Skye, Jett, Viper, or Astra. Jett is also another good agent especially when the Jett players are holding long-range angles such as on mid-top to market or from Screens to A main and they can stop the push on defense and take a pick then dash away from the angle.

Chamber’s util is also similar as he can hold site with his OP Ult and then teleport away from the angle. He is also useful in stopping the push due to his traps as they gather info and slow the enemy down whoever is in the Area of Effect.

Breach is also a good agent as the elevated and close corners allow for his flash to catch the enemy off guard and leave them blinded giving you an immense peeker’s advantage, allowing you plenty of time to peek them blinded and take them off the board.

Remember timing is key and so is gathering information. Time your util right, gather information, coordinate with your team and you will start rising through the ranks in no time at all. I hope this guide helped you to deploy the strats you would need in the Split map to win the match.
