What are Shadowflame Crests in Dragonflight

Shadowflame Crests are the most important currency for getting the best gear. You can also use Flightstones for lower-level gear upgrades that will take you up to 398 item level. To get Shadowflame Crests, you need to do harder in-game activities like Mythic+ dungeons and Raids. If you want Flightstones, you can do regular and world quests. To use Shadowflame Crests, you’ll need to find special Item Upgrade NPCs on the Dragon Isles.

When you collect Shadowflame Crests, you can find them in two forms: regular tokens and fragments. The regular tokens are ready to use, and you can take them to a vendor. The fragments, however, need to be gathered 15 in total to create a complete Shadowflame Crest.

Here are all the Shadowflame Crests available in the game and the gear levels they can upgrade to:

  • Whelpling’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades gear up to 411 Item Level.
  • Drake’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades gear up to 424 Item Level.
  • Wyrm’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades gear up to 437 Item Level.
  • Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades gear up to 441 Item Level.

Additionally, there are Enchanted Shadowflame Crests used to enhance crafted gear:

  • Enchanted Whelpling’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades crafted gear up to 395-408 Item Level.
  • Enchanted Wyrm’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades crafted gear up to 424-437 Item Level.
  • Enchanted Aspect’s Shadowflame Crest: Upgrades crafted gear up to 434-447 Item Level.

The Drake’s Shadowflame Crest requires a profession of Enchanter to create. If you’re not an enchanter, you won’t be able to create this type of crest. In that case, if you have a different profession, you can use the Crafting Order system to upgrade your crafted gear.

As always, the game developers have set a limit on how many crests you can get each week. When it comes to crest fragments, the maximum you can collect is 150. For Shadowflame Crests specifically, you can obtain 10 crests of each type per week.
