Overwatch 2 Season 7 Recap – Everything You Should Know About

In this blog, we will talk about season 7 of Overwatch 2 since it has been 3 seasons between today and season 7. So of course, a lot has changed in these 6 months.

This blog is going to be a recap of that season’s game changes, character reworks, limited-time events, and many more things. The season was released back on October 10, 2023, almost 8 months before this blog.  I will also write if something has changed from the season, like if a hero got a Nerf just now and was buffed in season 7.

Before we jump right into season 7 details, if you need to improve your rank in Overwatch 2, you can choose our Overwatch 2 boost platform, where we have a list of professional OW2 boosters ready for you guys to play with.

Sombra rework:

Season 7 did not have a hero addition, but they did rework an agent to give players something to talk about and something to grind on. Sombra had a rework in which her abilities, like machine pistol to her emp, all got worked on. I will put some of the changes down here so you can get an idea about how much she got nerfed or buffed.

Machine pistol:

Her machine pistol has a really big buff, and it is more powerful than it ever was. They have increased the damage by over .05. So now it damages 8 hp per shot instead of 7.5. This might not seem a big buff, but considering that her gun’s fire rate is 20 shots per second, which makes this little bump in damage a real deal. Her bullet spread, and its starting point has also been reduced. The minimum spread is reduced from 0.5 to 0. The starting point of spread is reduced from 3 to 6 shots, Which means that at first, a bullet spread is not there, and when there is a spread, it’ll be less than it used to be.

Hack:

Her hack also got adjusted. So the cast time of it is reduced from 0.75 to 0.65 seconds. They increased its cooldown from 4 seconds to 6 seconds which will be reduced to 3 seconds if the hack got interrupted or if you got attacked by a non-hero enemy.

Stealth:

The ability is now her passive. So whenever you stay out of combat for more than 3.5 seconds, you’ll get invisible, which means that you are not using any of your abilities or in the effect of any other abilities for more than 3.5 seconds. The moving speed has been reduced from 60% to 40%. The fade-in and the fade-out from the ability have been adjusted as well.

Virus:

This is a new ability that came as a replacement for an opportunist. Upon landing on an enemy, a virus deals him damage over time. Impact damage is 10 and 20 on a hacked target, and the overtime damage is 100 over 4 seconds, and on a hacked target it is 100 damage in 2 seconds.

Translocator:

It is now manually activated and acts just like Reaper’s shadow step but is more mobile or controllable. There have been tweakings with it like the cooldown reduction from 6 seconds to 5 seconds. And the movement and projectile speed reduction from 27% to 25% but that’s about it for the translocator.

New map “Samoa” And Route 66 Map Rework:

The next thing on the list is an all-new map set on the control environment. The map consists of a tropical scenery set on a volcano with a deadly pitfall that can catch or give you a ride into a lava wave. The map was available as soon as the season hit the game which meant 10 of October 2023.

The rework on Route 66 is coming along nicely. Mostly, blizzards removed things that don’t matter that much. Like the entry point just after the spawn has now no fire effect, which, in my opinion, is better for focusing on things. They have redone these things to all other places on the map and to be honest, made it a little bit more dull. As for location or angle adjustment, there’s not been a noticeable change to talk about.

Limited-time Halloween events:

There are some limited-time Halloween events in season 7 since it was released on the day of Halloween. I will list each of them and will tell you what they are about.

Junkenstein’s Revenge

It is the return of the classic Junkenstein’s revenge. How good was it you might? Well, it depends on who the person you are asking is from. The four-player co-op mission is situated in a Halloween castle. The players can only use these four characters “McCree, soldier 76, Hanzo, and Ana. The players have to defend the castle against the waves of enemies. The game will end if all of them die or if they survive all of the waves and defend the castle.

Wrath of the Bride:

It is also pretty similar to Junkenstien in which you have to kill the waves of zombies with the characters “Junker Queen, Sojourn, Ashe, and Kiriko” after killing all of them. You’ll also have to fight bosses like Moira, Winston Bastion, and loads of other heroes as bosses.

Trials of Sanctuary:

Trials of Sanctuary is a lot different than the other two because it is based on the world of Diablo IV. The playable heroes in this mode are Sombra, Zarya, Illari, Lifeweaver, Reinhardt, or Pharah,

Wrapping it up:

There were skins and battle passes related to Halloween, which I did not include in this blog because, frankly, they do not affect the game as much. Apart from that, this blog was a full recap of season 7. But if you didn’t find anything that was added to the game this season you could comment on this blog. I would appreciate that till then goodbye.
