Overwatch 2 Bastion Guide, Pro Strategy & Tips

Most experts agree that Bastion is somehow stronger and better after a bit of practice than he was in the first game. Depending on the team he is playing with, the player will either have absurd or angry memories of the old way Bastion would play.

That’s why this change is much needed. Someone who is stressed about the fact that entering Overwatch 2 would make Bastion worse would set their fear aside.

It will not be wrong to say Bastion is now more vital to defending points than he was before. But Bastion made up for it by increasing his strength and range in Overwatch 2. Now, without feeling that they are hurting the team, players are the main Bastion on the map.

PlayStyle

In a team setup, Bastion lies in the medium to more extended range. He can hit fire from an exceptional distance but could sometimes be more accurate in his standardization. He usually becomes more challenging to kill when an infiltrator makes a space to the backline.

Bastion is wonderful with enemy shields when compared with other DSP heroes. What is more interesting about Bastion? In just a few seconds, he will blast down the enemy’s best tank shield. Because of this, tanks will be forced to expose their allies, lose their shield, or erase them.

Abilities

It’s time to discuss some abilities Bastion had:

Recon

Recon is a lightweight, mobile, and highly accurate weapon.

In his standard configuration, he moves around typically and fires gently damaging weapons that are capable of headshots. This gun has the rightness of a sniper rifle, with no bullet drop-off to fire in bursts.

Assault

What is it? It is a slow-moving tank with a powerful rotary cannon.

This ability of Bastion used to last forever and make him completely immobile, a new player to the franchise unaware of that time. The move happened only for a few seconds, but it left the Bastion to slow down a little. Just like before, the damage is terrible, but the accuracy is remarkable even when fully sustained.

Reconfigure:

Reconfigure is the Ability of Bastion to switch between weapons configurations.

The reliability of Reconfigure allows Bastion to choose between the weapon-like configuration Recon and assault.

A-36 Tactical Grenade

When an A-36 Tactical Grenade hits the ground or with an enemy, it fires a bomb that hits the wall and explodes.

Many lobbed projectiles, like Junkrat and Sigma, need help understanding the difference between the ground and the wall. Bastion is awarded with this skill, which enables him to immediately detonate a grenade up close or lob one from a distance or around corners.

Ironclad

Ironclad reduces the damage taken while being transformed.

In some configurations, transformed often sounds a bit vague to Bastion. This reduction of damages applies to two that aren’t configured like Recon.

Artillery

When Bastion uses this configuration, he becomes immobile and opens fire on the three most potent artillery shells.

Bastion’s ultimate gives the player some time to make a decision. What decision? Should Bastion fire out all three powerful shells or kill them? Or should he cause medium damage to the entire team, space from them a bit, and reduce the hope of them getting out of the circle?

Tips and Tricks

The change since the first game, instead of becoming a weakness, mobility is now his strength.

Bastion moves around the side of the team to choose a hero from the range, or he stands on the back side of the .bastion and then focuses on ripping down shields by letting other DSP payers get shots in.

Use lob grenades to land precisely where opponents are standing. Using this and Bastion’s ultimate wisely is the only way to deal damage to players who aren’t in front of him.

Focus on the map where players aren’t capable of making a rush forward because Bastion is good on defence, not offence. He is loud and takes time to break onto the backlines.

Bastion’s Combos

After understanding the Bastion’s abilities, now let’s discuss his combos, which make him even stronger:

Zarya

Zarya’s ultimate abilities benefit Bastion to use all three shots. When Zarya casts the ultimate, he has a lot of time to use all three shots of his ultimate, eliminating the whole enemy team. Apart from Zarya’s ultimate abilities, her protective shield helps Bastion if somebody breaks into backlines.

Genji

Genji is known as the best DSP character and becomes even better when he is with Bastion. When Genji launches havoc from behind while Bastion takes up the front, it destroys the defenders between these two DSP heroes.

Mercy

Mercy helps Bastion quickly cut off the enemy shield. When mercy amplifies his damage, Bastion takes a couple of seconds to cut through the enemy shield. There are several better options for her damage amplification.

Roadhog

Raoadhog’s ability to immediately kill when an enemy attacks him has been removed, but he’s very close to it. Here, Bastion is the game changer. Do you know how? Bastion immediately starts firing when he sees the hook going out, where the target brings back to Roadhog’s glory days. Bastion’s ultimate becomes very easy to aim when Roadhog, with his ultimate, bumps enemies into a tight place.

Torbjorn

Torbjorn makes a fight hopeless, while the Bastion is sufficiently good at locking down the backlines. What does he do? Torbjorn creates a layer of safety for Bastion. When the ranges of these two DSP characters become submerged ideally, Bastion then takes up everything from medium to distinct range while Torbjorn handles anything close to that.

Advantages and Counter

Heros, especially Reinhardt and Brigitte, who depend on their shields, probably switch when they see an enemy Bastion defending them. Roadhog and Junker Queen, without their shields, don’t fight much better because they can’t be healed once damaged.

Other characters like Pharah, Mercy Echo, or any other flying unit always beware of potential danger. Bastion’s weak spot is mainly the Snippers. They take him out with a single shot, but he finds it difficult to reach them.

Bastion’s great weakness is Zarya’s protective shield, which takes up all the damage. Her shield ignores the total damage, which gives her more strength. Bastion can’t handle some rare situations. Look out, Moria, for her orbs and mobility designed for a rare problem.
