Dota 2 Riki Guide 7.35d – Pro carry Build To Win Game

Hello, my name is Warren and I am working as a Dota 2 booster at immortal boost.  Today, I will share a perfect build of Riki. This guide will cover all the aspects of Riki in the current meta. This hero can be played on different positions but playing it as a carry will be a perfect choice. The guide will help you win the most games and assist you in climbing up your MMR easily.

Dota 2 Riki character

Introduction

Riki is a deadly carry if not controlled, a nightmare for support heroes. His permanent invisibility is like his greatest strength and weakness, having permanent invisibility allows him to sneak up on enemies and farms without worrying too much. Positioning matters, if he gets caught through Dust of Appearance, Sentry Ward, or the Gem of True Sight which can reveal him then it’s gonna be death for Riki but if he manages to stay hidden he can kill the targets one by one.

Tip: Try to gank by using Smoke of Deceit with your team so that you won’t get caught instant due to vision.

Item Build & Skill Build

According to the current patch 7.35d, this is the skill build you should make.

Skill Build

  • Take the Smoke Screen on level 8.
  • Smoke Screen silences and gives enemies a high miss chance along with canceling channeling abilities.
  • Further, upgrade the skill according to the following sequence (11,13,14)
Axe skill build

Tip: Use Smoke Screen to defend buildings as enemies will be missing their attacks, similar to Arc Warden’s Magnetic Field.

  • Blink Strike should be taken on level 4.
  • Teleports behind the target unit, momentarily slowing them and striking for bonus damage if it is an enemy
  • Blink Strike can target allies and enemies, which makes it useful for escaping or chasing
  • Further, you can upgrade the Blink Stike according to the following sequence (3,5,7)
Axe skill build
  • Tricks of the Trade should be taken later on Level 2.
  •  Riki phases out while striking random enemy units from behind in an area around him. While phased out his attack damage is reduced, but his Agility greatly increases
  • Tricks of the Trade turns Riki invulnerable and hidden for a maximum of 2 seconds. Use the skill to avoid dying from spells such as Sniper Assassinate, Sven’s Storm Hammer, Mirana’s Arrow, Pudge’s Hook, etc
  • You can upgrade this ability according to the following sequence (4,9,10)
Axe skill build

Note: Due to the short cast range, you can use this ability to get over cliffs and trees, making it a good escape technique.

  • Riki’s Cloak and Dagger fade into the shadows, becoming invisible. Every time Riki strikes his enemy from behind, he deals bonus damage based on his Agility. Bonus damage is doubled against non-hero units.
  • If enemies do not have any type of detection, the invisibility will let Riki escape and roam freely on the map.
  • Always level up to this ability whenever it is up on level 6, level 12, level 18
Axe skill build

Tip: Try to initiate creep aggro to check if enemies have vision over Cloak and Dagger’s invisibility

Note: Buying Aghanim’s Scepter on Riki is a great tool as the enemies caught in the smoke screen have their armor reduced by 5 and cannot be targeted by their allies.

Tip: Get Aghanim’s Shard on Riki which Increases cast range, and the number of attacks also allows you to target an allied hero, hiding inside them for the duration.  Each attack hits an additional target.

Talent Tree Choices

  • Level 10 Select +50 Smoke Screen Radius.
  • Level 15 Select +30% Tricks of the Trade Agility Increase.
  • Level 20 Select +0.3 Backstab Multiplier.
  • Level 25 Select -3 Tricks of the Trade Cooldown.

Early gameplay / Mid game / Late game

Early gameplay (0:00 – 12:00)

Riki is quite weak at the beginning as he has low health points. In the lane, he should focus on the last hits as Riki is a slow farmer, try securing the range creep with a Blink Strike and if you have strong support in the lane try to communicate with him to secure a kill. Getting kills in the early stage on Riki is a bonus. Your main focus should be farming your Diffusal Blade with some Wraith Bands and Power Treads.

Mid gameplay (12:00 – 25:00)

In this stage of the game, Riki has some essential items and is ready to sneak up on enemies to get kills, try to focus on supports, and kill them in Smoke Screen by applying Diffusal Blade. Avoid passing by spots that are typically sentried like rune or pillar spots. When in trouble, blink away, Tricks of Trade over a cliff or in the treeline, or Smoke Screen and teleport out. A well-organized team will often buy Sentry Ward to keep the vision of Riki. You may want to take it upon yourself to de-ward your lane if needs be if you are without support, or so that your support can concentrate on other items. Whoever gets caught in your Smoke Screen couldn’t win you in mid-game unless they had purchased Black King Bar or Monkey King Bar, both of which are extremely rare to have in mid-game.

Late gameplay  (25:00 – 60:00)

At this stage of the game, Riki has to hunt down supports first Since good supports always stay behind, you can wait for the enemy team to come into the team fight and catch the support as soon as a team fight begins and the enemy team is so busy fighting yours that wouldn’t realize that their supports are already dead. Always stay in the position, Use your Smoke Screen to cancel channeling abilities where possible. You are going to be the major focus for the enemy team so one bad move gonna ruin the game and jumping on good targets gonna win you the game. It’s all about the positioning in the late game as Riki can’t 1v1 to a carry who is 6-slotted.

Counters of Riki

 Axe

  • By using Berserker’s Call, Axe forces Riki to attack which removes his invisibility and makes him more vulnerable.

Bounty Hunter

  • The track makes Riki visible while he is invisible, which makes it difficult for him to gank as much. This may compel Riki to purchase Manta Style to get rid of it.

Bristleback

  • Bristleback makes no difference to the additional Backstab damage from Cloak and Dagger, and the passive Quill Spray makes Riki more vulnerable than he is

Legion Commander

  • Riki faces yet another significant threat because her duel forces him to fight from the front and exposes him the entire time.

Underlord

  • Pit of Malice prevents Riki from using Tricks of the Trade or Blink Strike.
  • Riki can be harassed in the lane using Firestorm.

Spectre

  • Even after Riki turns invisible, Spectral Dagger stays on him, revealing his location.
  • Regardless of Smoke Screen, Desolate provides Spectre the ability to damage Riki with right clicks.

Spirit Breaker

  • Spirit Breaker Counters Riki by using Charge of the Darkness, revealing his location on the map, which makes easy for Spirit Breaker to go with a team and kill him.

Blood Seeker

  • Low health points on Riki grant an advantage to Blood Seeker with his passive ability Thirst, which gives Vision to Blood Seeker and his team.

Zeus

  • True Sight is revealed for a brief period by Zeus’s Lightning Bolt and Thundergod’s Wrath, revealing Riki along with damaging him.

Viper

  • Riki finds it challenging to catch Viper and attack him because of Corrosive Skin’s slow attack speed.
