Hello everyone! Today, I will tell you about my most high GPM hero, Luna. I have 1200 games with her as a Safe-lane role with the highest favorable ratio among other main cores.
My peak rank is 8500 Immortal, and I am working as a Dota 2 duo booster with the Immortal Boost team. My job requires me to master every hero so that I can give straight wins to my customers who ask me to play along with them.
Introduction
Riding swiftly into battle, Luna tears into her enemies with attacks able to bounce between targets. When foes threaten, she calls down the moon’s power as a single searing beam or a lunar barrage, crushing those who stand against her. Luna is a very offensive carry with a combination of pushing, magical damage, and physical damage. She is a late-game monster with the ability to push faster than almost every other hero.

Item Build & Skill Build
According to the current patch 7.35d, this is the skill build you should make.
Skill Build
- Take the Lucent Beam on the level 1.
- Calls a beam of lunar energy down upon an enemy, damaging and briefly stunning them.
- Lucent Beam mini-stuns. Use it to interrupt teleporting and channeling heroes.
- Further, upgrade the skill according to the following sequence (11,12,13)
Tip: Use Lucent Beam after Eclipse to keep the target inside Eclipse’s radius a little longer.
- Moon Glavies should be taken on level 4.
- Empowers Luna’s glaives, causing her attacks to bounce between enemy units. Deals less damage with each bounce
- Moon Glaives is the ability that allows Luna to clear creeps and demolish buildings extremely quickly.
- Moon Glaives does not affect solo enemies, so keep all neutrals and lane creeps at roughly the same HP level when farming.
- Further, you can upgrade the ability according to the following sequence (6,8,9)
- Lunar Blessing should be taken later on Level 2.
- Increases the attack damage for Luna and nearby allied heroes, with Luna receiving 200% of the attack damage bonus allies receive. At night Lunar Blessing is global, and Luna is blessed with increased vision range.
- Lunar Blessing’s damage bonus makes a big difference in the early game when a few attacks from Luna’s teammates can kill a weaker enemy.
- You can upgrade this ability according to the following sequence (3,5,7)
- Eclipse Showers random nearby enemies with strikes from Luna’s current level of Lucent Beam. These beams do not stun their targets, and there is a maximum number of times that a single target can be struck. Also turns day into night for a short time.
- Eclipse is most powerful in the early to mid-game, and should be taken advantage of.
- Always level up to this ability in the following sequence (14,16,18 )
Note: In the late game, Eclipse will become less effective, as many heroes will have a Black King Bar.
Note: Buying Aghanim’s Scepter allows Luna to cast Eclipse on an allied unit or herself and have its effects follow them, or cast it on an area. Also increases total beams, reduces duration, removes the limit on beams per unit, and makes the beams appear twice as fast.
Tip: Get Aghanim’s Shard on Luna that buffs Moon Glaives that can be activated to create 4 glaives that rotate in a 175 radius around Luna for 7 seconds, reducing the damage she takes by 25%. Any unit that collides with a glaive will take 75% of Luna’s Attack Damage.
Talent Tree Choices
- Level 10 Select -8% Moon Glaives Damage Reduction.
- Level 15 Select -2s Lucent Beam Cooldown.
- Level 20 Select 2 Moon Glaives fired on Lucent Beam.

Early gameplay / Mid game / Late game
Early gameplay (0:00 – 12:00)
In the early game, your goal should be to farm as much as possible and harass your opponent with your Lucent Beam. Beware of the ganks, as you are fragile at the starting game. Make sure to secure range creep with the first ability so that you don’t have to contest for that. Your goal is to get a mask of madness as early as possible. In a bad scenario, move to the jungle to farm quickly with Moon Glavies to get the items efficiently.
Mid gameplay (12:00 – 25:00)
During the mid-game, you should focus on the core items as listed in the guide and farm ancient creeps or stacks if you told your support to do that. Join the team to take towers quickly and keep your teleport ready if you are farming and there’s a killing potential. Try to get some kills if possible, avoid giving away your death. Your farm should be way ahead to be impactful in the team fights as Luna is strong against multiple targets. Secure Roshan so that your team has the advantage of taking maximum towers.
Late gameplay (25:00 – 60:00)
In a late-game scenario, Luna should focus on objectives while her team is tanking and fighting once your team manages to take down the tier 3 tower, it is very easy to clear the barracks due to her Moon Glavies. At this stage if the game you are almost 6 slotted, take full advantage dont move solo around the map, make sure to stick with the team so that ending the game would be easier. If get caught or you think you can fight with the enemy team or be left alone, just pop the Black King Bar and teleport out to the base.
Counters of Luna
Lina
- Lina has a very high magic burst damage spell “Laguna Blade” to use against the low-health-pool Luna.
- To learn how Lina can counter Luna, you can read the guide here.
Phantom Lancer
- Doppelganger can be used to dodge several Lucent Beams during Eclipse.
- Additionally, Phantom Lancer can often create more illusions for Luna to handle.
Pudge
- Even with Black King Bar, Pudge’s Meat Hook and Dismember can still disable Luna for a fairly long time.
- Many stacks of Flesh Heap will make it difficult for Luna to burst down Pudge with Eclipse.
Kunkka
- With Kunkka’s Ghost Ship thrown down on point, it’s very hard for Luna to kill Kunkka or his teammates.
- Kunkka‘s perfect X mark + Torrent and Ghost Ship combo can burst down the Luna.
Meepo
- Even though Moon Glaives can bounce between Meepo and his clones, Meepo can tank Eclipse because of his clones.
- Earthbind takes away Luna’s mobility advantage.
Medusa
- Mystic Snake allows Medusa to easily harass Luna and steal her mana, preventing Luna from retaliating with Lucent Beam.
- To check how Medusa can fully counter Luna, read the guide in detail.
Terror Blade
- With his Reflection Terror Blade. He can put a lot of pressure on Luna.
- Terror Blade can counter Luna with Sunder if she tries to burst him down.
Slark
- Shadow Dance prevents Luna from damaging Slark, and together with Silver Edge he can easily chase her or escape from her.
- Luna has no way to escape from Pounce’s leash.
Shadow Demon
- Demonic Purge takes off Luna’s superior mobility, removing the need to chase her and allowing your team to reposition in team fights or escape when at low HP.
- Disruption can be used to save an ally from Eclipse.
Bristleback
- Quill Spray and Bristleback passive ability Bristleback harass Luna more efficiently than she does with Lucent Beam.
- Viscous Nasal Goo and Warpath are enough to outrun a speedy Luna.
