Valorant: How to Improve Aim On Console (2024 Updated)

After being an exclusive for PC only, Valorant has now been released for the console players. Valorant was released as a beta for PCs in April 2020 with a full-fledged release in June 2020. After 4 years, on June 14 2024 riot released the game for consoles. Currently, the game is available for Xbox series X and series S, PS 5, and of course PC.

Valorant agent taking aim

As you might already know valorant is a very tactical first person meaning that every movement of yours should be calculated. Valorant is also heavily based on aim since apart from the ability usage the only thing that sets apart good players from great players is that they have superior aiming abilities.

Now that the game is available on Console, you can choose our valorant rank boosting for console devices and start dominating the ranked matches!

Valorant or any first-person shooter regardless of its competitiveness is better to be played on a mouse and keyboard because the duo of mouse and keyboard is superior to aiming within first-person shooters. To compensate for the advantage that PC players have, developers constructed a technique to give the console a fair chance in terms of aiming. The technique is called aim assist which provides the console with better tracking and easier crosshair placement.

So In this blog, we are going to talk about how you can improve your aim in valorant on console. This blog will help to get better at aiming in valorant. I will include some general tips that will help you in improving your aim and I will also give some insights and tricks that will help you immensely in the game.

Movement:

Movement is a key factor in games like valorant and Counter-Strike. Unlike other arcade games for example in Overwatch 2 where your bullets do not react to how you move you can shoot your enemy in the face while jumping or hopping or whatever and your bullets would not react to them. But in valorant being good at movement decides your fate as a player.

Now you could practice two or three things to improve your movement.

  • Walking: keep in mind that sprinting is the killer of accuracy because when you are sprinting there’s a high chance that an enemy will hear you and it will try to kill and since you are sprinting your reacting fire would be way less accurate. The first thing that you need to do is to walk more and only sprint if you want to rush towards a bomb site or have to retake a site.
  • Strafing: if you are familiar with tactical first-person shooters you already know that if you peek at an angle where there can be a potential enemy you always try to swing and strafe at an angle. But if you don’t know what it is then don’t worry I will tell you. So strafing is moving in a direction by pressing a singular key if you want to let you press a and if you want to go right you press d. So you would peek with more precision and your bullets will land on your target. Now on the console, all you have to do is move the stick to straight or straight left without bending it to any other direction. It’ll take time to get used to it.
  • Counter Strafing: As it sounds counter strafing is what is used to cancel out your excess movements. It is essential to counter-strafe, especially on consoles, since the joysticks always have a delay between inputs so counter-strafing on the console will make your aim more precise.

Crosshair placement:

The next thing that you need to practice is your crosshair placement. It is one of the most basic things that you could do to get better at aiming now the question is that. What is crosshair placement?

And how to be the best at it. So crosshair placement is simply a way to put your cursor or your crosshair always at a length that you can headshot an enemy without even moving your crosshair.

Now here are some things that you could do to get good at crosshair placement. First, try to aim at the body level of your enemy at all times even when you have a knife in your hands, don’t ever aim into the ground.  The second practice would be to play short game modes like spike rush and try to put your crosshair where your enemy might peek and his head would be.

You could also practice your crosshair placement while playing game modes like deathmatch since they are quick and there’s no limit on how many times a player can die. Just load up the death match and start practicing all of the things that I have just told you above. Just keep repeating the process and eventually, you will have a good crosshair placement.

An aim routine:

Now in the PC fps scene having an aim routing is common considering that it makes the aim more crisp and a lot more consistent. Now having an aim routine while playing on a console can be difficult since there aren’t many aim trainers that are available for consoles. Tough luck but there are some aim trainers like sticks aim trainers for example but it is paid, unfortunately.

The only thing that you can rely on in terms of aim training for valorant is its own practice range. There are different exercises that you could perform.

You can set the bot’s range free and have a go at them by killing them just by flicking. This exercise will help you to build muscle memory and you will land your future flicks a lot more.

The second thing you can do is you can try to use jiggle peeking or strafing here. I have explained what strafing is above.

Jiggle peeking is essentially aggressively strafing from left to right. Jiggle peeking is used to bluff out the enemy shots so they can give away their position and become an easy target to kill.

Apart from that just try to play in the practice range every day for at least 10 to 15 minutes and get comfortable with your aim before hopping into the matchmaking.

Play deathmatches a lot:

At the beginning of your journey in my opinion you should only practice your aim. Because since you are a noob at the game and playing ranked matches will match you with other players who are also new to the game and because of that both parties would get confused in the match about what to do and how to kill the enemy faster.

So take my advice and for the first 15 to 20 hours only train your aim and play deathmatches. Analyze your aim and mistakes after every deathmatch and work on them. Believe me, these first few hours that you put in your aim will elevate your skill set by a mile as compared to the player who started playing the ranked as soon as it gets unlocked.

Another tip to use in deathmatches is always try to use vandal and always tap your fire and not spray it down and there are many reasons for it. For starters, if you tap-fire you will be most accurate since in valorant the first few bullets are the most accurate. Secondly, vandal has one shot headshot capability so if you land your first shot on the head it would instantly kill your enemy and you would not need any extra shots to kill the enemy.

Lastly, in valorant, every gun has a random recoil pattern and Vandal has most of it. So you can not control the recoil even if you try to because the game does not allow it. It is exceptional at the beginning for any player.

Get comfortable with focus mode:

So Riot has added a focus mode for the console in which the players can use a more zoom-in version of their POV. It is kind of similar to the hip fire; you could activate the focus mode by pressing the left trigger. Upon activation, you see a square on your screen that is called focus mode. This focus will help the players to navigate more quickly with more stability and in my opinion that’s a really thoughtful initiative by Riot.

Since there are not many games with mechanical aims like valorant and because it’s a cross-platform game now. PC players always have the advantage in valorant since it’s a lot easier to aim the mouse and keyboard rather than with the controller.

Now the only thing that you need to do is use focus mode frequently and get comfortable with it. Keep in mind that you do not need to use it all of the time because it can put you in a disadvantage. Just to get comfortable with it you need to use it most of the time and as you get better you will know when and how to use it.
