The finals have made their place in the world of fast-paced first-person shooters. In a few short months, the game has gotten more players than some titles couldn’t get in decades. With newer updates, embark has proved that finals would not fade out like other games, and it is here to stay. With over 75k concurrent players last month, the game has surely gotten some loyal fans. With more than three overhauls to the ranking system and a couple dozen meta-changing updates, the game has a very new look to it.
So to keep up with ranking system changes in this blog, I am going to give you 10 tips that will help you rank up faster in this new and enhanced ranking system. So if you’re new to the game or have already been playing it for months, this blog is going to be something that will help you in your future matches. So stick around and learn to be the best at “The Finals.”
Get good at fast-paced aiming:
As we all know, the finals are fast-paced. So good aiming skills would not take you that far in the game. You have to get good at aiming faster and more precisely. If you already have a decent aim, then aiming faster would become easier since you have the command over the basics thus far. But if you’re not familiar with aiming, let alone fast-paced aiming, then I would suggest you play deathmatches a lot. I mean, for 20 to 30 hours, just play deathmatches and don’t use any other game mode at all.
You can also download Kovaak’s or Aim Labs and should train your aim there as well. But if you do it in deathmatches, you’ll get familiar with final shooting mechanics. So before queuing for competitive games Start practicing in deathmatches and try to shift rigorously and kill one target before moving to another. This will help you build muscle memory and will help you perform better in your matches.
Tweak Your in-game settings:
So you should have your own set of settings for every new game; that way, even if you switch to a different game, you can easily get comfortable pretty quickly and can take your already built-up skills and transition them. In no circumstances should you change the Finals Stock settings.
So go into mouse settings and try various settings sensitivities and try to find the best ones that fit your aiming style and your desk space as well. Also, try to bind your keyboard keys with minimal travel time. So you can minimize the risk of hitting the wrong key in fights. Now I am not going into too much detail about which video settings you should use because that will make this blog extra lengthy.
Change Loadout According to the maps:
Each map has very different characteristics. Some provide better angles for long-range fights, while some of them have close corners with congested environments, making it harder to take a precise shot and push close-range blind fights. Now, as you know in the finals, there are build types and their specific characteristics. Now I am not the one you should be looking for to give a fit for all advice. Since different players like to play differently. But if you want to have a starting point, then here you go.
If you’re going for a light build, then get an invisibility cloak and pair it with SMGS since the only time your enemies would see you is when you are really close to them, and in that scenario, SMGS’s high fire rate will help you win those 1v1’s. If you are going for a medium build, then go for recon senses for specialization. And let me tell you, the recon senses are literal wall hacks; you can see the enemies clearly from across the walls and from any hard-to-see surface apart from the fog.
Now for the weaponry, I would suggest you go for AKM and feel it. If you like it, if you don’t, then don’t use it. For heavy builds, use mesh shield as your specialization because it’ll prevent you from taking damage, and you could easily hold off the enemies for a few seconds. For weapons, you can either go for a shotgun or for that bulky machine gun. It depends upon what weapon you like at the moment.
Pick a role and stick with it:
So if you’re just starting, then it would be easier for you if you just stuck to one role. Because in the finals, every teammate has a unique role. Some players are aggressive, while some players play safe and are more patient than others. So picking a role is crucial, and picking one role and sticking with it for the rest of the season will indefinitely increase your chances of getting a rank up.
If you’re familiar with the game’s basics, then playing the medium build would be better since you would have an enormous amount of impact while using your reflexes. Not only that, you can use it to get information and trade that info to your teammates. Which will allow you to get a higher rank score.
Play with a group:
This might sound generic, and I do say this a lot in my guides. But games like Counter-Strike, Valorant, and the Finals are meant to be played with a group of friends. Because these games are designed that way. Not only that, if you decide to queue at random, you will have a way higher chance of getting a troll teammate than actually getting a genuine teammate who actually wants to win a match.
So always play with a team and try to play with better teammates than you. If you don’t have friends who play in the Finals, then you could easily find players with positive mindsets on Discord, or there’s also a Reddit community of the Finals you can use to team up with players.
Play Consistently:
With more overhauls, the way that the ranking system works is mysterious, and we cannot say for sure what the algorithms are like. Other than getting more wins than losses and doing that consistently. So if you’re taking the finals seriously, then devoting some hours of your day to the game should be a priority. If you can rewatch game plays of Pro players and try to implement things and decisions that they are taking in real-time.
Your goal should be to play at least one or two pro matches every week. Practice your aim daily, play at least a couple of matches daily, and try to enjoy your games while playing because if you’re not enjoying the game, then what is even the purpose of playing a video game? So be sure to enjoy gaming sessions.
Take breaks:
There’s no actual benefit of taking no breaks, and there’s no way of brute forcing your way into the game’s top ranks, and if the game is making you too stressed, then you should leave that game asap. So make sure after a week or so take a break from the game for a couple of days. Doing this will allow you to perform better and will make your rank-up journey a lot more enjoyable.
Team compositions:
So after gathering your teammates, there should be a game plan for before every match. Game plan utilizing every member’s abilities and creating a good team composition. A good team composition will put you at an advantage while having no plan and no team composition will be another hurdle in your way. Now what should your team composition look like? As I said multiple times in this blog, embark is consistently experimenting with things with the game and has been overhauling left and right.
So as of now, most esports teams are using composition, which consists of medium plus medium build, and the third member could be a heavy build or light build depending upon the player’s preference. The reason for medium plus medium being is that it provides two of the most crucial specializations. First are recon senses, which are literal wall hacks and give you an immense upper hand in fights. The second specialization is the healing beam, which allows the player to heal their teammate from a range, which allows the player to constantly be engaged in a fight while also healing their teammate.
Analyze Your Performance:
This bit is the boring one, but it’s worth the work you put in. So analyze your past games and try to find things where you made the bad decision or where you did what. Rewatching your gameplay gives you a new perspective on it.
Because at the time of playing, we do have some kind of pressure upon us, which makes us make a bad decision. During a rewatch, you won’t feel any of that pressure, which will make you realize things that you’ve done wrong. After marking your mistakes, make sure you work on correcting them.
- Stay Positive and Patient:
Doing all of the above will help you rank up faster. But you gotta be patient and have to stay positive. Because “the finals” is a hard game and you will lose games in the future and you are going to get setbacks. But keep in mind that you only lose when you give up. So stay on the journey, and in no time you’ll be ranked Ruby.
