Ubisoft’s Free-to-play FPS Shooter XDefiant is going through some controversy with players claiming the game is dying. The Publishers have given a statement saying that XDefiant is “absolutely not dying.” Revealing they are looking after several issues, and more updates coming to the game with a Year 1 Roadmap. XDefiant roadmap will be focused on cross-play across all the platforms.
The Team at Ubisoft for XDefiant has officially revealed the year 1 roadmap including major changes to the game’s hit registration issues and netcode. They agreed that “still [has] a ways to go” to improve the hit reg issues.
Ubisoft’s Statement on XDefiant dying?
Ubisoft replied to the players and fans of the game concerned about the title’s future, saying “I just want to quickly address the status of the game. i.e. is the game dying?,” They added about XDefiant No, the game is absolutely not dying. We know there are things we need to improve like Netcode/Hitreg and adding more content to progression, but the game is doing well. We just want it to do better. And we do that by addressing the concerns of our community which has always been the plan.”
They assured fans about the passion and resources for XDefiant, “Ubisoft is very much behind us and has allocated more resources to the team in order for us to do that.” Further, the team promised a year-long roadmap filled with new content for XDefiant. “a lot of new content and features” for XDefiant’s first year, ending in its “biggest ever event”.
XDefiant Year 1 Roadmap
With the recent celebration of the XDefiant season 1 end and free in-game currency by Ubisoft. XDefiant’s Year 1 Roadmap includes 3 more seasons. According to the official roadmap by Ubisoft, Seasons 2,3 and 4 will all feature a brand-new faction. Also, there will be three new weapons per season and three new maps per season.

Including Bots mode, Bomb mode, and private matches is a great initiative by the team at XDefiant. This will give the game a fresh life and more styles to play. The first new faction in the upcoming Season 2 is codenamed Buz, more details are to be revealed later.
Furthermore, there are plans by developers for Battle Pass progression speed, mantle, player collision, and footstep audio improvements.

Mark Rubin’s Response to XDefiant Players Complains
Ubisoft was hit with a lower-than-expected response with XDefiant Season 1. Players for the game also claimed that Ubisoft rushed out to launch the game. There was a big talk about XDefiant failing back in July. But Mark Rubin the producer for XDefiant has finally come forward and given a response to all the blaming his game got.
Rubin also cleared they were testing the game engine “that was designed for something else” and he admitted the claims on “a lot of bugs”. He further promises the game to be polished as they progress. Adding “We’re not a shooter that’s been out for 20 years,” continued Rubin. “If you like what we are trying to do stick around and you’ll see things improve and new features get added. But if the game isn’t for you that’s ok you can move on.”
