In this article, we will go over everything new that XDefiant Season 2 has to offer to players.
XDefiant Season 2: The Highwaymen Release Date
XDefiant Season 2: The Highwaymen is live right now and was released on September 25, 2024. This new season brings a ton of new content for all players including three new maps, one of which is currently available and two of them will be released in Seasonal updates every month. Moreover, the OG players of Rainbow Six can resemble themselves with the new Bomb Game Mode in a 6v6 situation.
Furthermore, the main highlight of this new Season is the new faction called The Highwaymen. Here is everything that you need to know regarding The Highwaymen. If you are struggling with Frame Rates in XDefiant Check our guide.
The Highwaymen Faction in XDefiant Season 2 – All Abilities
The new faction introduced in XDefiant is originally from the Far Cry: New Dawn universe. This new faction includes ruthless survivors of post-apocalyptic Hop County 2035 and is based on makeshift weaponry. Despite their selection of such handmade weapons, they have access to a unique arsenal that can be devastating in clearing out the opponents.
Here are all the abilities of The Highwaymen faction in XDefiant.
- Revved (Passive) – The rate of fire and reload speed of your weapons increase as you get killstreaks.
- M79 (Active) –Shoot an explosive grenade to clear out an area of enemies or destroy utility in the explosion radius.
- Scrap Turret (Active) – Deploy a machine gun turret with a 360-degree coverage field. It helps defend a site.
- Saw Launcher (Ultra) – Equip a Saw Launcher as an ultimate ability and shoot buzzsaw blades that ricochet off surfaces to eliminate enemies on their path.
The Passive ability of The Highwaymen grants them a huge edge to pick up a pace and become unstoppable while racking up kills. However, upon death, the Revved meter goes back to zero.
New Bomb Game Mode in XDefiant Season 2
The newly added Bomb Game Mode changes the overall playstyle of XDefiant as it takes away the unlimited spawn rate of all players for the sake of this mode. For those who have played the original Rainbow Six Siege, they will be quite familiar with this mode. This mode requires 12 players in total, 6 on each team of Attackers and Defenders. Every player has one life per round to complete their objective and the team to score 7 rounds first takes the victory.
The rules of the Bomb game mode are simple, but here is an overview of both teams’ objectives.
- Attackers: Develop a strategic approach to attack one of two sites on the map to deploy the bomb and protect it until all the foes are eliminated or the time runs out.
- Defenders: Secure both sites strategically to prevent Attackers from deploying the bomb. If the Attackers have planted the bomb, they need to defuse it before the bomb explodes.
Three New Maps in XDefiant Season 2
The Season 2 of XDefiant also brings three new maps to the game two of which are Arena Maps and one is Linear Map. Currently, only the Waterfront (Arena Map) is available in the game. The Signal (Linear Map) and the Air & Space (Arena Map) will be released in Seasonal updates every month. Players will have to wait for the seasonal updates of XDefiant Season 2 to get a chance to play the new maps.
Unlock & Master Three New Weapons in XDefiant Season 2
With the new faction, game mode, and maps, there are also three new weapons included in the new Season of XDefiant. These new weapons are PP-19 (SMG), L86 LSW (LMG), and SPAS-12 (Shotgun). All of these weapons will be rewarded freely by progressing through the tiers of the new Season Pass.
- PP-19: Rewarded on Tier 20
- SPAS-12: Rewarded on Tier 50
- L86 LSW: Rewarded on Tier 80
Moreover, with these weapons, a new device was supposed to be added to the Battle Pass, but it was removed due to an issue. The new device was a Smoke Grenade.
“We removed smoke grenade from the Battle Pass “free rewards” to fix an issue. It is replaced with the Blackout skin.”
Create Private Matches in XDefiant Season 2
Last but not least, Ubisoft is also adding the anticipated Private Match feature in XDefiant. Players can host and join the private match lobbies of both unranked and ranked iterations.
