Riot Games co-founder, Marc Merrill recently uploaded an article on X\/Twitter<\/a> announcing the \u2018changes\u2019 the company made to their teams and how they work to improve League experience for the long-term. The title of the article is \u201cAn Update on How We’re Evolving League<\/strong>\u201d, but the changes to the team (Game Devs) are laying off some of the roles from different departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Riot Games made a decision to eliminate some roles (team) from League of Legends to improve the experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The article mentions, \u201cWe\u2019ve made the tough decision to eliminate some roles\u201d, further explaining the reasoning, \u201cThis isn\u2019t about reducing headcount to save money\u2014it\u2019s about making sure we have the right expertise so that League continues to be great for another 15 years and beyond.\u201d Moreover, the article also mentions that the \u201cLeague team will eventually be even larger than it is today as we develop the next phase of League.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Devs who have been fired from their roles in developing and maintaining League are now being supported with a \u201cseverance package that includes a minimum of six months’ pay, annual bonus, job placement assistance, health coverage, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the article, Marc Merrill talked about the team size and budget and how these aren\u2019t the right ways to judge whether a team will be successful or not. In the comments of the article, Marc Miller explained, \u201cSuccess isn\u2019t about throwing more people or money at a challenge. We\u2019ve seen small teams at Riot (and elsewhere) build incredible things, while large teams (both at Riot and elsewhere) miss the mark.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How many jobs have been affected by Team Change of League in Riot Games<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the statement, \u201827\u2019 individuals are from the League Team, and \u2018five\u2019 are from the publishing side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this unexpected change, Marc Merrill ensures, \u201cWe\u2019re investing heavily in solving today\u2019s challenges faster while also building for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
