How does Ranked Shield in Valorant works

Ranked Shield is a competitive queues feature in Valorant which is added with Patch 10.01. Every player will get 3 shields. Two shields in the first tier of every rank apart from Radiant. These includes from Iron to Immortals. Losing your game on 0 RR will consume one shield from the Ranked Shield and saving you from dropping ranks.

Moreover, losing another match at 0 RR will consume the second shield. Upon losing the third game consistently will result in a derank. This is a great initiative by Valorant for Solo players that are having a bad game or their teammates are not as good.

However, Ranked Shields only work for the first tier of all the ranks except Radiant. That means if you’re Silver 1 it will save you from dropping rank and the Ranked Shield won’t work on tier 2 and tier 3 for Silver like Silver 2, or 3.
