Ranks in The Finals – Ranking System Explained 2024

The finals have been getting more and more competitive each day. To welcome the coming players from other hardcore competitive games embark has introduced a new ranking system. Before this, the 3v3 competitive shooter wasn’t using a full-fledged system. What they were using was something like a league system based on an industry-standard Elo system.

But Embark quickly found out what was bad with the Elo System and they have tried to make changes to the ranking system which we will discuss in a bit. So in this blog, we are going into the full depth of this system. How does it work? What are The do’s and don’ts of it? And after getting enough understanding of it. We are going to learn how we can abuse it to get the best possible ranks for ourselves. So if this interests you stick around.

Ranks in season 4:

So in this season embark has introduced a new rank for the players to make the game’s ranking system a bit more dense so that players can enjoy a competitive gameplay. Current ranks lineup looks like this.

  • Iron
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Ruby.

With each passing rank embark rewards the players with some cosmetics. These cosmetics can range from stickers to all the way to elite gun skins. It depends on which rank you end up on on the last day of the season.

The Ranking Systems so far:

So the problem that the first ranking system had was that players were getting pushed through higher ranks just for the sake of playing that game more and more. And once they hit the ceiling the rank push-up was nonexistent for the rest of the season. The Elo system that most games use has this flaw which is great at counting what a player’s skills could do in a match like how many kills they get. But they never account for what a player is doing for the team or how much impact he is creating on the match.

“The Finals” has a lot more depth than just being a first-person shooter. In it, you would have to grab cash, revive your teammate, and complete your objective. In short you had to make an impact to cross the finish line. So simply a kill-death ratio can not fathom how good or how bad of a player you are. That is why this scenario “Embark” states that the elo system is flawed.

Now what they are offering in this shiny and new ranking system. What is so special about it?

Let’s talk about it.

So in season 2, they were disappointed with the results they got from drifting apart the ranks and league meaning that a player from a silver rank could get placed in a lobby full of platinum-rank players. This means that fame and the league system were very far apart from each other.

So in season 3, they were adapting back to the original Elo system but with a lot of changes. So the first change was that the seasonal journey would allow a player to quickly gain ranks and elevate through the leagues. To make the matchmaking ranks more precise they have reduced the ranked tourneys to only 24 player size. Not only that, embark had also added a new rank named “ruby” which is only available to the best 500 players in the game.

The new ranked changes in season 4:

So in season 4, The first change is the two new ranks being opened in the world tour. Emerald and platinum. Previously they were only available for ranked tournaments. Also embark has reduced the requirements for earning the emerald rank now it’ll be open to earn from the very start of the season.

The next change they have made is a new ranked seeding in the ranked tournaments. The cash-out tournaments will now have 24 players divided with 8 teams competing against each other as opposed to the 48 players divided into 16 teams. This will allow the rank system to have more comprehension about you as an impact player.  The tournament will now have seedings according to the strength of the teams.

Not only that your ranked score will now be dependent on your standing in the tournament. The better you end up in the tournament the more score you’ll gain. For instance, if you play well at the tournament and have gotten a 4 kdr but your team finishes last or second last. Your kdr would not matter in that scenario. On the other hand, if you had an okayish kdr but the team finishes in the top 3 your rank score will be much higher.

This season is the only one where Embark did not overhaul their entire ranking mechanism which is kind of a good thing because now players will have a stable ranking system and That’s about it for the season 4’s rank update.

Now let’s talk about how you can use this new season and its changes to get the best rank possible.

Tips to get the best rank this season:

Play a lot at the start of the season:

As we established before, embark told us that it’s overwhelmingly hard to get a good rank after getting assigned to one. If you got placed in a silver or gold league chances are that you’ll be there for the rest of the season. There’s an easy way to avoid getting into silver hell and that is to play the game a lot at the start of the season.

This new ranking system awards the new players a lot. So if you win a match in a lower league at the start of the season you’ll get a lot more rank points. My advice would be to get 2 friends of yours and play as a team at the beginning of the season. This way you’ll be able to get more ranked points due to the new ranked tournament changes.

Play tournaments:

In Season 4 the role of ranked tournaments has increased dramatically. With new changes to the ranking system and new ranks being added to the ladder. Playing ranked tournaments with good trios is the best way to get good rank placement. Try to find players who already are good because if you play the game with sub-par players then it would affect your standing in the tournament and in the end no matter how much impact you had in the matches you’ll not get a good rank so bear this in mind.

Try to win the first few matches:

The first few matches of this season would be the important ones because at the start of the season, you’ll start from zero elo and would get placed against the absolute newbies and if you perform well enough in those first few matches you’ll gain a lot of elo points. The first few matches are the ones where you can make the bank and get the best rank the fastest. So try to take full advantage of it.
