Marvel Rivals Mods – Install, Safe or Bannable?

Marvel Rivals Season 1 Update Disabled Mods!

The Developers of Marvel Rivals have banned mods, specifically character skin mods with the Season 1 update. It’s not recommended to modify any game files, as doing so carries the risk of a ban. Players who continue to use mods risk having their accounts banned. For instance, there’s a mod that can turn Jeff the Land Shark into Pochita from Chainsaw Man. NetEase warned the players that using the mods in Marvel Rivals can cause problems. Mods that aren’t optimized can sometimes do some weird stuff that can cause a strain to the server. In this guide, we’ll discuss if the mods are banned in Marvel Rivals, including some unique mods.

Marvel Rivals Mods Banned

Modding for Marvel Rivals is officially banned. NetEase has officially cracked down on modding, so modding no longer works. Mods like our Vegeta, Pochita Jeff, and Symbiote Spider-Man are not disabled. There are almost 1,000 mods to choose from as well as close to 4 million downloads since release. Despite the warnings of potentially getting banned, people were modding anyway. Since the season 1 update, there’s been a hectic checking system.

So, even if you have your mods folder installed perfectly, the game will not read it. Now it may come as a little surprise that they’ve done something, and if you look at the grand scheme of things, there was only a small percentage of people using mods anyway. There have been some games that have done this as well where they disable the ability to add mods. But they actually ended up reversing it, so who knows if Marvel Rivals will hold the same fate. Modding can be the thing that keeps this game afloat or it could be the thing that sinks it, as only time will tell.

There are modders, however, trying to find a workaround to add modding back in that could take a few days for us to hear anything back. I think one of the main reasons people said they’re taking modding out is because it stops people from buying the in-game skins. What they don’t tell you is that you still need to buy these in-game skins in order for the majority of these mods to even work. Whether you allow modding or ban modding, you’re still making money. We had a lot of future potential for a bunch of different mods to be added.

Pochita Jeff

Jeff the Land Shark turns out to be an unexpected fan-favorite character from the expansive Marvel Rivals roster. With the surge in popularity, several mods have been created to highlight this cute, adorable yet powerful Strategist. The Pochita Jeff mod by yakuzadeso turns Jeff into the adorable Pochita from Chainsaw Man anime. Pochita’s cute and powerful persona perfectly aligns with Jeff’s character in Marvel Rivals.

Symbiote Spider-Man

The game includes Venom as a separate character, fans have been longing for the Venom-infused black Spider-Man. The Symbiote Spider-Man mod by Stardom1 brings a cool costume for Spider-Man. Installing this mod, replace Spider-Man’s base skin with a symbiote version. Playing with the Symbiote version of Spider-Man and battling with Venom in Marvel Rivals creates an iconic and epic moment.

Akatsuki Theme

The Akatsuki Themed Cloak and Dagger mod by BruhLookAtThis is made for Naruto fans, especially for the fans of Akatsuki, the villain organization of the anime. The mod applies ‘Akatsuki’ themed outfits for Cloak and Dagger, which is inspired by the Akatsuki leader Pain and the iconic member of the group Itachi Uchiha. This mod also allows you to customize both Cloak and Dagger separately, making the outfits and hairs standalone.

Vegeta

The Marvel Rivals community has come up with several cosmetic mods based on DC and Anime characters. Leonaura’s Vegeta As Iron Man mod belongs to this category. The name is self-explanatory, as it transforms Iron Man into the popular Dragon Ball anime character Vegeta. This mod brings up two skins for the ‘Saiyan Prince’: The default Iron Man appears as Blue Vegeta and the Model 42 costume comes with Black Vegeta.
