The PTR 2.0 is a couple of days away from bringing the fresh experience of major systemic changes in the base game with Season 6 and the Vessel of Hatred Expansion. One of the most notable systemic reworked mechanics is the Paragon System including redesigned Glyphs and Paragon Boards.
Redesigned Glyphs – Ranks & Rarities
The redesigned glyphs will now require players to increase Glyph’s Ranks by completing Pit Tiers instead of Nightmare Dungeons. As players reach Level 60 (new level cap), it will unlock the Pit from Tier 1-20. From there, players need to beat Pit Tiers on a new Torment difficulty until they reach the max tier of the Pit corresponding to the selected difficulty. Progressing through the Pit Tiers will eventually bring players to Pit Tier 65 at Torment IV difficulty.
If an equipped Glyph Rank is lower than Pit Tier by 10 or more difference, players will gain a guaranteed Glyph Rank upgrade. Moreover, a Pit Tier that is significantly higher (like 20) than the equipped Glyph’s Rank grants bonus upgrade ranks per attempt.
The maximum level of Glyphs has been increased from 21 to 100. All the Glyphs start at Rank One with Rare (rarity) and upgrading it to Rank 45 will allow players to turn it into a Legendary (rarity) Glyph with Gem Fragments. Turning the rarities of Glyphs also provides the following bonuses.
- The Glyph’s Radius Size has increased from 4 to 5.
- The Glyph gains an additional affix.
With these changes, the Devs also shared their vision of making Glyphs’ upgrades more satisfying.
“There were a few issues with Paragon Glyphs, the Pit, and Nightmare Dungeons. We received feedback that the Pit rewards were feeling lackluster. We wanted to make the action of upgrading Glyphs more satisfying, while simultaneously offering better rewards for pushing deep into the Pit. Our desire was to give Glyphsmore power, but the Glyph upgrading experience system did not scale well and was needlessly grindy. So, to achieve this goal, we moved Paragon Glyphs upgrading out of Nightmare Dungeons and into the Pit, and also redesigned the system to give more control over how quickly Glyphs can be upgraded.”
Changes to Paragon Boards
The changes to Paragon Boards will allow players to equip a maximum of 5 Paragon Boards including the starting one. Every Paragon Board now comes with a new Legendary Node and each class has received a new Paragon Board. Moreover, the number of Paragon Points has been increased from 200 to 300.
With the limitation on Paragon Boards, the Devs shared their take saying, “Limiting the number of Paragon Boards attached allows us to concentrate more of the power into the boards and Glyphs themselves. This puts more of the decision-making focus on boards and Glyphs that fit your build.”
