Apex Legends Season 22 Audio update

Audio problems are one of the most reported complaints in Apex Legends. People are frustrated about the unreliable sound of enemy footsteps, which breaks one of the most crucial elements of Apex Legends Esports.  There have been reports of players dying and rushed due to zero audio of footsteps.

However, the new update fixes for audio are addressed in the latest update by Respawn. In a tweet, Respawn officially announced the surprise update that targets the enemy footsteps audio. They mentioned that it was requested by players.

The update promises to fix the footsteps’ audio and make them more reliable in competitive matches. The goal of Respawn is to reduce the inconsistency of audio footsteps and lower the chances of silent enemy flanks. With lower silent encounters there will be fairer competitive gameplay in ranked matches. Respawn has advised players to test out the new audio update and give their feedback to help improve the audio.

Players had mixed responses to the Apex Legends Season 22 audio update

Players are still having mixed reviews about audio after the audio update. There has been a debate going on Reddit and other social platforms for Apex Legends about the audio update. Some players have expressed they’re thankful to Respawn for fixing the footsteps audio while others are claiming there is no impact.

Some players reported there are still issues in identifying enemy footsteps to know the positions of enemies. They are reporting the footsteps audio cue is still inconsistent and is not helping in competitive gameplay and ranked matches.

However, Respawn also focused on a mid-season update that is out on September 17, 2024. The mid-season update adds a new Space Hunt Event with a new Heirloom and some nerfs and buffs coming to Legends.

Apex Legends concurrent players fall historically low

Apart from the audio issues, Apex Legends is having a rough time. As the player numbers are continuously falling despite the new season 22. Apex has dropped to the lowest players in three years. The current average 30-day player was about 110,000 players. This was the case back in January 2021.

However, there is no data available on Consoles or EA App to check how many players they have. With this decline in the number of Players Respawn should be worried and bring some major changes to Apex Legends in order to survive and have new players.

Hopefully, Respawn and EA address and fix all the player concerns and shift the game to how players want in order to succeed in numbers and both competitive gameplay.
