How to Get Legend Tokens in Apex Legends | Complete Guide

Apex Legends is a popular tactical shooter battle royale video game from EA offering 25 different heroes for players to pick from for their casual or competitive/rank matches. The rank grind in Apex Legends can be tough due to the various gameplay mechanics like learning the closing of circles, positioning, end-match placements, and more. New Season 22, is filled with new map loot and recent changes to the map pool are also live with mid-season updates.

Alongside the fast-paced action experience from the games, Apex Legends also offers all sorts of skins and cosmetics for the weapons, heroes, etc. Acquiring these cosmetics requires a certain type of currency and Apex Legends offers five different types of currencies in-game. Apex Coins, Crafting Metals, Legend Tokens, Heirloom Shards, and Exotic Shards are the currencies in Apex Legends that players can acquire through different means, but the hardest one to get is the Legend Tokens.

In this guide, we will be telling you how you can get Legend Tokens quickly in Apex Legends and how you can spend them.

What are Legend Tokens in Apex Legends?

The Legend Tokens is the only free currency in Apex Legends and it is also one of the hardest currencies to get in the game, especially when you are a high-level player. Unlike other currencies in the game which you can get from loot crates or purchased with real money, the Legend Tokens are earned by simply playing and completing the matches. This is what makes them more valuable in the game,

The Legend Tokens have a red and white ‘L’ symbol and you can see your current Legend Tokens by looking at the top right corner of the screen on the main lobby screen.

How to Get Legend Tokens in Apex Legends

1.      Level Up to Get Legend Tokens

As mentioned above, the Legend Tokens are only earned by playing the game either the casual matches or competitive matches. Playing and completing the matches will earn you XP which is essential for leveling up, and as you level up your profile, you earn Legend Tokens. Each level-up in Apex Legends rewards you with 600 Legend Tokens.

In short, leveling up is the primary way of earning Legend Tokens, but reaching the higher tier of levels like the third tier and fourth will make the leveling so much harder due to a requirement of hundreds of thousands of XP per level up.

For a brief overview of how much XP each level tier requires, look at the list below.

Tier 1 (Level 1 – 500)

  • Level 1: 100XP
  • Level 10: 8,600XP
  • Level 20: 12,500XP
  • Level 30: 14,000XP
  • Level 40: 15,500XP
  • Level 50: 17,000XP
  • Level 60-500: 18,000XP

Tier 2 (Level 1 – 500)

  • Level 1-100: 18,000XP
  • Level 101-200: 20,000XP
  • Level 201-300: 23,000XP
  • Level 301-400: 28,000XP
  • Level 401-500: 36,000XP

The level cap in Apex Legends is 2000 (four tiers in total with each tier containing 500 levels.) As you surpass tier 3 of levels, the XP requirement will increase further making it harder and taking more time to level up, resulting in a slower rate of Legend Tokens.

Now, if you manage to reach the max level (2000), you will still earn Legend Tokens by earning the equivalent amount of XP for the next level.

2.      Play With Friends to Get More Legend Tokens

Now, that we have learned that Legend Tokens are earned by leveling up via earning XP, the best way you can use this information to your advantage is by playing with friends. The reason is the bonus XP reward while playing with friends. This bonus XP reward is by default in the game and players can earn a 5% XP bonus by playing with a single friend and a 10% XP bonus by playing with two friends.

3.      Take Advantage of Stackable XP Boosts from Premium Pass

Lastly, another method to get even more XP from your matches is by redeeming the stackable XP boost rewards from the premium pass. Each battle pass in Apex Legends offers an XP boost for the top 5 and wins. If you are doing well in your games, make sure to take advantage of these stackable XP boosts for an immense amount of XP gain at the end of your matches throughout the season.

Where to Use Legend Tokens in Apex Legends

The Legend Tokens are used for multiple purposes with unlocking the new heroes being the primary one. All the unlockable heroes in your account can be unlocked for 12,000 Legend Tokens per hero. Moreover, in addition to unlocking heroes using the Legend Tokens, you can use this currency to unlock recolors of legendary skins of the heroes you own or a recolor of a weapon skin.

The weapon recolor skin cost 6,500 LT and the hero recolor skin cost 8,000 LT. Lastly, another purpose of Legend Tokens is to use them to reroll the daily challenges, but it is not recommended. Each reroll will cost you a certain amount of LT with the fourth and last one costing a thousand Legend Tokens.

That is all related to how you can get and use Legend Tokens in Apex Legends.
