Destiny 2 Power Level Guide – How to get to 2000 power level

Hey, I hope you guys are doing well. In this blog, we are going to dive deep into Destiny 2’s power levels. Hopefully, by the end of this guide, we will have enough knowledge about how to abuse the system and how to get to the 2000 Power Level as quickly as possible.

Destiny 2 Power leveling

In this guide, I will cover everything that will help you understand the game better. We will discuss the light-level caps, their meaning, and how to acquire them. I will break down each part of this guide into bits so it will be easier for you to follow along. I am pretty confident that after reading this guide you won’t need anything else to boost your power levels.

Also, the fun thing about this power leveling is that while Destiny 2 gets continuous updates from now and then Bungie Inc. does not change the ways that players increase their power levels. So after reading this guide, you’ll be good to go for every season.

How Does Power Level Work?

So if you’re not new to the game then skip this section because here I’ll be explaining how this power level thing actually works.

So two factors play a role in power level.

  • How much damage do you give to the enemies?
  • How much damage do you deal against the enemies?

The better and higher your power level is the greater damage you will cause. Co related to that the less power level you have the less damage you could do. The damage you take from your enemies also gets lesser and lesser as you move past the power levels. The power level is dependent on your gear and any other seasonal add-on. We will discuss what gears are in a bit.

So the better level you get the more powerful and immune to damage you become. This is the silver lining here now.

The power level changes:

In this season, “The Final Shape,” many changes are coming to the power level. There’s also a rank progression system and some new functions. So I will go over them one by one swiftly.

So there’s a new system or an arrangement where you can team up with a player with a much higher power level and this system will make him your team leader. Now here’s what is interesting. So whatever your team leader’s power level is you will get that power level with -5. Simply putting so if your team leader has a 2000 power level your power level will become 1995. But the gear drops remain the same So whatever your power level was before playing with a team you will get drops according to it.

There’s also a new cross-progression system. This essentially means that your power level will be shared between all of your characters and classes. This cross-character progression will help you to level up to all the characters you play.  You can play any character of your choice and you’ll be getting rewards for the highest power for all of your characters.

Another change is that now there are two power level-based activities. The power-disabled ones and the power-enabled ones. So how it works is the power-disabled activities will only affect the enemy’s difficulty meaning you can’t out-level your enemies. Here are the power disable activities:

  • Story Campaigns.
  • Seasonal story mission.
  • Free-Roam Destinations.
  • Some legacy content.
  • Crucible.

On the other hand, power-enabled activities are different. The caveat is that  Bungie has decided to add an Activity Power Cap. This means at the start of your Journey you will feel the game more difficult but after exceeding the activity power cap the game will become much easier for you.

These are the Power Enable Activities:

  • Vanguard Playlist.
  • Night falls.
  • Seasonal Activities.
  • Exotic mission Rotators.
  • Trial Of Osiris.
  • Raids.
  • Dungeons.

As it is the power-enabled mode. Your power level will affect the game’s difficulty here’s the

chart which exactly tells you about how hard you can expect your enemies to be.

Destiny Power level Caps:

So let me get you up to speed if you’re new here. In Destiny 2, unlike other games, your level of progression is not marked with a level but it is marked with a number. This number sums up all of the weapons and gear you have equipped. This means that if you lose some of the gear it can decrease as well.

Consequently, you need to achieve several huge milestones before getting the best cap, which is called the pinnacle cap. At the start, you will get a power level easily just by playing the game. But as you move past the entry barrier, the game will get progressively harder.

There are four stages of power levels. Here’s a table that accurately describes them and how much effort you will need to put in before getting that ever-elusive Cap. I’ll also tell you which strategies you could use to get there as fast as you can, but before that, let’s see what this table has to say for us.

CapsNumericsDrops
New Character1900This is the first step of the ladder. Whichever character you decide to make. This would be the level you’ll start with.
Soft cap1940Rare drops, Legendaries (non-sunset), Exotics, Vendor packages
Hard Cap1990Activities with Powerful Gear rewards, Prime Engrams
Pinnacle Cap2000High-level Nightfalls, Raids, and other pinnacle sources

The power levels in Destiny 2 work in different ways than the norms of other games which usually goes in 10s or 100s. The reasoning behind this is that the algorithm they use counts the player’s cap levels. So Destiny 2’s algorithm is more precise and coherent than other algorithms that the game uses.

Another thing with this power leveling is that it is tedious and lengthy from the new character to the pinnacle cup. It requires a lot of time and dedication to achieve it and an hour a day wouldn’t do much in terms of earning those caps. So if you value your time and still want to get to the pinnacle cup I would suggest just taking a look at Our Destiny 2 boosting and seeing if it interests you. If not then still i upload valuable guides on there regularly so you can still take advantage of it.

Why Do Power Levels Matter?

Now after all this blabbering, you might be asking why power levels even matter. Especially if you’re new to the game and don’t know what to do or what’s happening in the game. For new players, the power levels do not matter that much because you can do most things without having a high power level.

They start to matter when you are taking the game a bit more seriously. Because in d2 some activities need the players to have a certain power level. So you can’t play these activities without having a high power level you gotta have a high power level. These are some of those activities.

  • Raids
  • Iron Banner
  • Grandmaster Nightfalls
  • Nightfall: Master
  • Nightfall: Legend
  • Nightfall: Hero
  • Solo Lost Sectors: Master
  • Solo Lost Sectors: Legend
  • Trials of Osiris

Each of these activities requires a different power level and they also reward power boost levels to the players upon completion.

Apart from activities and as I have mentioned earlier in the blog. That power levels are directly attached to the damage you take and the damage you give. The better you are in the power ladder the more lethal you’ll get.

Here’s what you need to do.

Each cap has a different way to get to and it gets progressively harder and harder with each cap.

A soft cap is the easiest one to get because the game will give you the gear for it for literally doing anything in the game.

The hard cap on the other hand is a lot more. Now you will have to do some repetitions in engrams. The loot boxes that’ll give you the gear to upgrade will be rare.

Getting to The Pinnacle Cap is an entirely different ball game. Now you would have to play with a strategy. The pinnacle cap requires you to play the game like you are making a living out of it. You would need to get your hands on exclusive deals. Double down on weekly tasks and just do this over and over again until you get to the pinnacle cap.

Now that you know what you need to get the said caps. Now I have to tell you what activities you have to do to get those legendary and exotic drops.

Competitive PvP

Play and complete 3 survival games. In competitive survival mode, each player only gets one so if you win three matches in a row you will get a power boost of +3.

Dares of eternity.

So there’s a game which is inclusive for everybody. In it, there are both enemy encounters and platform jumping or km races. So choose any one and play it on legendary difficulty if you manage to finish three races you will get a boost of power by 3.

Weekly campaign missions:

Just complete the weekly missions regularly on any difficulty that you prefer and you’ll get a boost of power boost+3.

nimbus challenge:

Complete the Nimbus campaign and gain reputation points. Complete the task that Nimbus gives you and earn a +3 power boost.

Aquatic Operations:

Complete three tiers of deep dive challenges and it’ll give you a +3 power boost.

Trials of Osiris (5):

Win five matches with the same card. You would have to win this 5 games consecutively and on a singular card. If you manage to attain this feat you’ll get an abnormal +5 power boost.

Defiant Battle Grounds:

Compete 3 battlegrounds in the defiant playlist and after completing them you’ll get a healthy power boost of +3.

Rank ups:

Rank up in glory division and subdivision. Climbing the ranks will help you in competitive games and it’ll give you power boost +3.

Prime Engrams:

Decrypt the primes engrams from triumphed enemies. Doing this will award you in rare drops and decrypting the engrams will result in a power boost of +3.

Conclusion:

So we are at the end of our blog and hopefully now you have the knowledge about how things work in destiny 2. I have given you all of the in’s and out’s of the game and its power levels and as I said earlier they rarely touch how the power level actually works. So this guide will be relevant for you for upcoming months.

Now all you have to do is to take advantage of the things that i have told you and enjoy the game as much as you can. Don’t take the game too seriously because remember if you’re not making a living out of it then it is not worth it to lose a second of sleep over it. Just remember to appreciate the game and enjoy yourself as much as you can.
