Xdefiant might be shutting down after Season 4 – Rumor

Ubisoft’s latest free-to-play first-person shooter, XDefiant offers an intriguing experience of fast-paced combat between two teams in a variety of game modes. However, according to a recent rumor, game developers and fans are speculating that Ubisoft might shut down the Support for Xdefiant after Season 4.

Xdefiant offers various Factions, each one from a different Ubisoft game franchise like Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and more. Every faction has a unique set of abilities with an Ultimate ability that players can utilize to outplay their opponents. With Season 2 recently dropped with new Highwaymen Faction from Far Cry Universe and new Bomb Game mode XDefiant was somewhat promising to make a comeback.

The overall presentation of the game looks very promising and it is also the very first game that got the “COD Killer” title from players who saw potential in it. The gameplay is fast-paced like Call of Duty and the usage of abilities combined with a utility like grenades, flashbangs, etc. do make it a potential contender.

Rumor About Ubisoft Ending Support for XDefiant After Season 4

Earlier today, a game developer and leaker of this information named Shaun Weber posted on X/Twitter. According to the post, the research team of Ubisoft wants its testers to have another In-House test session to get feedback on the game.

“Ubisoft research team is actively asking their tester to have another In-House test session and give/repeat their feedback. Multiple sources told that its possible that the game will end its Support after season 4 if they can’t get enough players.”

Moreover, Shaun Weber also said in his tweet that multiple sources told him that Ubisoft may end the support for XDefiant after Season 4 if the game doesn’t receive enough players by the end of this year. Currently, XDefiant is on its Season 2: The Highwaymen which came out last month on September 25, 2024, bringing a new faction, multiple new maps, multiple new weapons, a new Bomb game mode, and more.

At the launch of Season 2: The Highwaymen, several players return to XDefiant to see and test out the new content but it seems like the numbers have dropped again. Now, Ubisoft has already revealed its Year 1 Roadmap for XDefiant containing tons of new featured content in 4 Seasons. Each season will offer a new faction, 3 new maps, 3 new weapons, a new game mode, and more.

But we don’t know how the fans and players will react to every new Season and whether they will return and stay loyal to XDefiant. Moreover, the next week going to be more critical for XDefiant as the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is releasing on October 25, 2024.

Black Ops 6 got a great response from the players during its Open Beta week and fans are hyped up to try out all modes and maps with the Omnimovement and grab mechanics in Black Ops 6 multiplayer.
