Valorant patch 9.0: Ranked Enabled On Console Devices

Riot Games has released the first patch for Episode 9 in Valorant. There are several quality-of-life changes coming to the console, with Valorant currently in its limited beta stages on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Riot has also made some balance changes for a couple of agents.

What you need to know

  • Riot Games has released VALORANT 9.0 to players across all platforms, including Windows PC and the newly supported Xbox and PlayStation (beta) versions.
  • The major update brings plenty of balance changes, new features and options, and introduces a brand-new Battle Pass and premium cosmetic bundle.
  • The Evori Dreamwings cosmetic bundle is one of the most expensive we’ve ever seen in Valorant, but features five weapons with unique, animated familiars that react to your actions.
  • The 9.0 update is available to download now, but the Episode 9 Act 1 Battle Pass kicks off on June 26 and the Evori Dreamwings bundle becomes available on June 27.

Now that the ranked matches are available on Console, you can now elevate your rank to new heights while using controller!

A brand-new chapter of VALORANT is starting with the release of the major 9.0 update, and there are some exciting updates and additions with this release. Sure, we’re getting plenty of balance changes, a new Battle Pass, and a gorgeous (and expensive) new cosmetic weapon bundle, but perhaps the most exciting part of this release is that it’s the first major update for the VALORANT Limited Beta on Xbox and PlayStation.

As promised, Riot Games is releasing the 9.0 update on all platforms simultaneously, and both Windows PC and console players will enjoy platform-specific updates, enhancements, and features. For one, competitive Ranked mode debuts on console with this update, so controller players can now battle their way up to Radiant (oh, and the new Abyss map is now a part of the Ranked map pool on both PC and console).

Console VALORANT players are also getting a bunch of new settings and optimizations, including ways to finetune the camera sensitivity along every plane, more default crosshair presets, and a much-needed Voice Chat section to customize your mic and voice settings. Iso is already getting a minor nerf to his Double Tap ability after his previous major buff, too, removing the ability refresh when acquiring two consecutive kills and shortening the duration from 20 seconds to 12 seconds.

Controls Preset added for consoles

Console players will now see a “Controls Preset” selection screen when they start Valorant for the first time. This will give players the option to choose the Riot-recommended control preset or the traditional console FPS preset to play Valorant. Players can change between control presets anytime by heading to the Settings menu and navigating to the Controls tab. There are other improvements made by Riot to provide better customization on consoles for crosshairs, and aim sensitivity.

When does the ranked mode release for VALORANT on console?

VALORANT recently announced a change in how their updates rollout. The patches are still implemented on the same schedule, but the content does not come until the day after, or sometimes even the day after that.

Alongside of that reveal, they snuck in a comment on when ranked arrives in VALORANT on console. From Wednesday, June 26 onward, you can hop into the Competitive queue of VALORANT to try and be the best console player.

Does your rank from VALORANT on PC carry over to console?

Your rank on PC is completely separate from your rank on console. And that’s how it rightfully should be. There is no crossplay, just cross-platform progression with your account level and skin/accessory collection.

The developers have stated many times that VALORANT for console is basically a brand-new game, as they had to build it from the ground up to work with console and controller limitations. So, here’s a challenge. Will you be the first to reach VALORANT’s Radiant rank on console and PC?
