Dota 2 is one of those games where you have to deal with this annoying error: “Failed to start a game; a party member is in another game.” This error often pops up when there is something wrong with the coordinator due to the high load, major update, or before the update, it’s widespread, and it’s been around for many years.
Many of our boosters of the Dota 2 MMR boosting team also face the same problem when they are in a boosting session. Nothing to worry about! We know the fix, and we are sharing it below with you.
This error is connection-based and it is related to the Dota 2 coordinator. Usually, it shows up after you have finished a game and decide to queue for another one. Despite the name of the error, it can also happen when you are not at a party. Regardless of being annoying, there is a way to fix the Dota 2 failed to start a game, a party member is in another game error, and here is how to fix it.
Steps to Fix “Failed to Start the game, a Party Member is in another game” error
To fix this error, most people expect that they need to restart their game. This might work in some cases, but since the problem is related to the coordinator, it may not be enough.
Besides these steps, we also found that you can fix this error by creating a custom lobby. Once done, all you need to do is start the game and then exit the entire Dota 2 client. Doing this will allow your client to disconnect from the coordinator, and you can queue up for another game. If that does not work, there is another way to fix the Dota 2 Failed To Start A Game. A Party Member Is In Another Game Error, and it is related to the console.
This one has a few more steps, so here is how it works
- Go to settings and find the option to enable your console. This is located inside the Advanced Options tab located in “Options.”
- After enabling it, open the console and type “disconnect.”
- Once done, you should be back on your launch screen, which is where you can queue up for another game. Doing this should remove the error you had before, no matter if you are playing alone or with friends.
